Yep, they are created randomly. I guess it's my loss now. Will have to remember to manually back up the wallet after each transaction from now on or at least check that auto backup was performed.

Just trying to understand. You sent coins from one key of the app to another key in the same app? That's a usecase the app has got no good UI support for. Did you copy the address to the clipboard? Maybe something went wrong at that point?

When you re-installed the ROM, did it remove the app? If so, how can you have any automatic backups left? Automatic backups are written in the same app-private storage as the wallet file itself. If the wallet file is gone, the automatic backups should be gone too.

My guess is you picked an old backup. Don't go for the file created/modified dates. The date in the file name of manual backups is more reliable.
Thank you for replying.
Coins were sent from an exchange to the android wallet(new address to receive the coins were created)
Coins came in fine and were in the wallet from Nov 11 until Nov 21.
When I re-installed the ROM, I have restored the wallet using the Titanium BackUp. At this point wallet was restored, after the block-chain loaded coins from that transaction end up missing. All before and after transactions are fine but in the list of addresses that new address is missing so are the coins. Transactions after Nov 11 were outgoing transactions only. Not sure if I am explaining myself proper...

Also I have tried to restore the private keys from the back up. The most current one is dated Nov 3 (not manual). Any keys back up prior to August have transaction records going to Aug 13 and nothing after that. The Nov 3 automatic back up, restores all the transactions but the one that has that new wallet address.
Thank you again for your reply.

Coins Lost with Android Wallet (Andreas Schildbach)

Just lost BTC2.69 on my Galaxy 2 with Bitcoin Wallet.

Here is what happened:

The phone is rooted, I had to re-install the ROM, after installing the Bitcoin Wallet app I've imported the private key from automatic key back up dated Nov 3.
After refreshing the blockchain all of the transactions seems to be back except one. The missing transaction was done on Nov 11, according to the exchange records. It has completed just fine and the balance was reflected all this time until today. Now I do remember creating a new public address for the transaction which is missing from the list after restore. The public address for the transaction is: 1Em2UPmydJuqxaVgGJfwtDLFBGYbpgMGjP

Also all the transactions after the Nov 11 appear to be fine, though none of them to the address in question.

Any ideas what can be done to restore the missing BTC?

CryptoCoinTrade on Ripple

Hello,

I am opening a Ripple Gateway for the following cryptocurrencies: BTC, LTC, NVC, PPC

So here is how it works:
1. E-mail is sent using BitMessage to the address listed below with the following information:
  a. your Ripple address
  b. nick name for transaction with three numbers (example john123)
  c. what kind and the amount of currency being sent (example 1LTC)

2. Reply is received with coin address.

3. Coins are sent to the address provided in reply.

4. Trust is extended (for the currency sent for example 1LTC) to the Gateway's Ripple address at the minimum to the amount of coins sent.
( Alt. currencies like LTC, NVC etc will not be listed in the default menu, just type it over)

5. Coins will be sent to your Ripple address

To transfer the coins out of Ripple:

1. Send BitMessage email with the following information:
 a. amount of coins to be transferred
 b. your coin wallet address

2. Send the desired amount of coins to the Gateway's Ripple address

3. Reply will be sent with conformation.

4. Coins will be transferred to your coin wallet.

Fees: 1% on all transactions (on real coins of course :-))

CriptoCoinTrade Ripple Gateway address:

rsdrLtmD3g7noZXxfqowwCFy7ZnosS4HXw

BitMessage address:

BM-ooGeesNSZBRd3GxvimyvpSa38uwDZ4Frj

All transactions will be done once a day (UTC-7)

Happy trading.

P.S. I am in the process of making an instructional video for those that are not familiar with Ripple system.

Ripple requires a fixed amount of ripples(XRP) to have an account with all the functions. BitMessage me if you need them. I'll trade them for all the above mentioned coins.

Here is where to find BitMessage client:

There is no option for wallet decryption yet. But you can export your private keys and then import it into new wallet.

Anyway, I'll send coins to new address.

Thank you kindly sir.

Posted my address earlier but was missed in the giveaway. The address that I posted was: 4JDccc1UHXBZLgm6gSXsEGQqpZEK1vM4hY
If the giveaway still going DO NOT send it to that address.

I had to re-install the client as I encrypted the wallet and a message appeared " Info: Minting suspended due to locked wallet"
I was trying to find an option to remove the encryption but with no success. Can it be done?

And finally my new address is a s follows: 4SN9h3zq5sWdYUNyYU1tgKuon4LWjdG1ic

Thank you in advance.

You guys are probably right but, it's not necessarily true in every case. I've been lurking here for a while but started posting just recently, mostly in order to fund my Ripple account. Then I've mentioned all this my my kids that also have been following the Bitcoin project for a while but registered only recently for the Ripple giveaway.

Re: Ripple: XRP Price Speculation

I have been wrong on this so far, XRPs have done well based on the bitstamp exchange rate.  Every with people advertising for old forum accounts to get the free ripples the price seems to be heading up in terms of BTC not down like I expected.  Congrats and well played to Opencoin, so far.
Yes it's seems to be the case. Looking at exchange rates on ripple the it took ~75,000 XRP to 1 BTC yesterday, it's down to ~45,000 XRP today. But you are right time will tell.

Edit: Nevermind, I found it on their site eventually.

WeExchange Ripple Addresses to Trust:
WeExchange AUD: rBcYpuDT1aXNo4jnqczWJTytKGdBGufsre
WeExchange BTC: rpvfJ4mR6QQAeogpXEKnuyGBx8mYCSnYZi
WeExchange CAD: r47RkFi1Ew3LvCNKT6ufw3ZCyj5AJiLHi9
WeExchange USD: r9vbV3EHvXWjSkeQ6CAcYVPGeq7TuiXY2X

I guess this means you need to make sure you have the right address trusted for the currency you are using.

Maybe in the OP you could list the ripple addresses for those gateways? That way people could add them to their address lists in the ripple client.
Good idea. I'll try my best but I need some help. I'll posting the address for Bitstramp. Will update if some one submits the address for weechange. Wondering though if it needs to be verified. What will happened if some one submits a personal address and someone else extends the trust to it without checking?

No, if you want to be a gateway, then you need to Rippled, it isn't a client. The wiki ripple.com/wiki has a lot of good information a couple hours reading that and you have a better picture of ripple.

There is only 2 because Rippled is not released to the public yet, or since i have check it hasn't been released. Once that happens a lot more people will probably be starting gateways, even I have been toying with the idea.
What is Rippled? Is it a stand alone downloadable client? I guess I need a lot more reading...

Ripple Gateway List
by
wyodude
on 27/02/2013, 05:08:05 UTC
I have been playing around with Ripple for a couple of days. There is a lot of things that still in need of sorting out in my head. One thing that is clear at this point to me is a need of gateways. At this point I am aware of one gateway for $/BTC and that is Bitstamp. Just wondering if there is more and would like to start a list. So are there any other besides Bitstamp?
Not sure how many times I can edit the OP but I'll try to maintain this list.
So here it goes:

USD/BCT: bitstamp.net -rvYAfWj5gh67oV6fW32ZzP3Aw4Eubs59B

WeExchange Ripple  Addresses to Trust( thanks to Peter Lambert):
WeExchange AUD: rBcYpuDT1aXNo4jnqczWJTytKGdBGufsre
WeExchange BTC: rpvfJ4mR6QQAeogpXEKnuyGBx8mYCSnYZi
WeExchange CAD: r47RkFi1Ew3LvCNKT6ufw3ZCyj5AJiLHi9
WeExchange USD: r9vbV3EHvXWjSkeQ6CAcYVPGeq7TuiXY2X

Re: ripple: let's test it!

That's a visual depiction of your balance with Bitstamp. The fact that it goes from 0 to 0.5 means that Bitstamp can owe you anywhere from 0 to 0.5 BTC, becuase that's how much you trust them with. (If Bitstamp also trusted you, the left end would be negative, because you could be in debt to Bitstamp.) The green line shows how much of that trust they're using. As you receive Bitstamp BTC IOU's, the bar will fill up; as you spend them, it will empty. When it's full, that line of credit is maxed out, and you won't be able to receive any more Bitstamp BTC until you increase the trust limit or spend some you already have.

Thank you. I have a few questions now:

1. To sell some Ripples I need to give trust to bitstamp at first ?
2. How to withdraw my 0.2 BTC to my wallet ?
You'll have to deposit IOU Btc back to Bitstamp using their Ripple deposit and then transfer the Btc to your wallet.
