Bitnand seems to have it on sale at $349. Not a bad deal at the moment.

Re: 8-GPU rig in 4U rack case

At the risk of having this judged as being a thread hijack (I'm still going ahead with it Grin), I was wondering what the best (i.e. cheapest) case would be for an Onda D1800 with 6 GPUs on it... It would need to fit the PSU as well I reckon. Don't want to splash out too much cash, but I'm thinking of moving this open-air rig to another place so I need it properly secured.

If cheap is really what you're looking for, just go for a cheapo Rosewill or some knock-off brands on Amazon or Newegg.com. No need to bother about long-term sustainability.

Actually if you look at the dimensions of the rig, it is a standard 4U size. A lot of imitation rigs out there, including the Octominer, are non-standard size. The Bitnand rig fits inside a 4U rack case.

how much PCIe bandwidth to each slot? the full x16 lanes? or is it gimped to x1? does it run at full PCIe 3.0? or again gimped to lesser like 2.0 or 1.1?

how about the CPU specs? available to upgrade to something with more cajones?

does this actually fit in a standard 19" server rack? or is it too wide like all the other guys selling "4U server" setups? what about rails?

The number of x16 PCIe lanes available is limited by the chipset. These are not all full x16 lanes afaik.

CPU is a mobile Celeron unit, which should be plenty sufficient for mining purposes. CPU isn't the bottleneck in a mining system.

Yes, this is standard 4U rack size. This will fit in a standard 19" server rack. You can even see all the mounting points at the front.

8-GPU rig in 4U rack case

Pretty cool system from the guys over at bitnand.com. A riserless 8-GPU system placed inside a 4U rack server case. This systems comes with a server-grade 2500W power supply.

The whole miner is fully enclosed with front-to-back facing fans for clean airflow.

Re: AMD Radeon RX 590 Rumors 💲⛏ (Specs/Launch/Price)
by

Should we expect the possibility to flash the rx 580 with an rx 590 for better performance?

No this will definitely not be possible because it's a completely different ASIC GPU chip.

You could do this with certain cards like the VEGA 56 or some older 7950 GPU because they basically had a good ASIC quality but the manufacture just locked the extra cores and sold it for less.

However it needs to be the same chipset for that to work.

Yep, RX590 is an entirely different architecture. You can't flash the BIOS and wish your RX580 will become a 590.

Bitnand just sent out a discount coupon for P104 cards if anyone is interested. They are offering $40 off on each card.

Not a bad deal imho. They also accept crypto for payments.

You can take a look here https://www.bitnand.com.

Coupon code is "p104bitcointalk"

After seeing the performance of RTX series, I am more convinced that the P104 is still the best mining card on the market.

40MH/s+ for around $4xx with the P104-100 is a really good deal imho. I don't think it's good to compare to AMD Radeon because per card hashrate AMD is much lower, and consumes much more power.

It's speculative at this point.

I'd refrain from jumping to conclusions until actual measurements start coming out. Even after initial benchmarks, drivers and mining software could be better-optimized.

I'm not expecting a giant leap in mining performance either (certainly not enough to gamble on a pre-order), but I'm curious to see actual results.
yeah idk what the rush is, same with the ppl who all felt the need to jump on the fpga bandwagon early
instead of waiting till products were actually shipping.

I guess we never learn in this space lol

To be fair, pre-ordering a gpu with a relatively reliable resale and a warranty is a bit different than plonking down 3-5x the amount on a permanently custom modded, community supported piece of tech. Not saying there are no pros to the latter, of course, but pre-ordering something from Newegg is totally comfortable for me, whereas giving $4k to a stranger in untraceable currency is...well, riskier.
cheapest on newegg is $800 you can buy newrly two 1070ti or two vegas for that

Prices in the USA are disproportionally cheap. Not fair...  Angry

Medical bills are insane in the USA  IT EVENS OUT.

Haha you caught a cold and need to stay a night at the hospital?

Sorry bro, that's going to cost you dozens of RTX 2080 graphics cards.

Reducing the block reward will help solve inflation problem in the ETH blockchain. However, this will NOT be friendly to miners at all and may backfire.

because there is no other coin that has not been invaded by ASICS and has been made unprofitable for GPU's

Nonsense. Bring down nicehash and you`ll see how profitable everything is again to mine. Nicehash is the doom of home miners, asics not so much.

Nicehash is a huge problem yeah, but if nicehash was down for a while it would just be picked up by all the other profit switching pools

Problem with Nicehash is that it really affects small-cap coins where there isn't a whole lot of hash power. The difficulty adjustment algorithm makes it hugely unprofitable for existing miners when Nicehash switches TH/s worth of power in and out of the network.  Undecided

I am seeing estimated mining performance figures of RTX 2080Ti at 69MH/s. Please see source here: https://www.bitnand.com/product-page/nvidia-geforce-rtx-2080ti-fe

Does that make sense to you? Let's compare GTX 1080Ti vs RTX 2080Ti memory performance here.

GTX 1080Ti vs RTX 2080Ti
Memory type: GDDR5X vs GDDR6
Memory speed: 11Gbps vs 14Gbps (+27%)
Size: 11GB vs 11GB (same)
Interface width: 352-bit vs 352-bit (same)
Memory bandwidth: 484GB/s vs 616GB/s (+27%)

Given ETHash is a memory intensive algorithm that does not depend much on the GPU itself, the difference in memory performance should be a good predictor of RTX 2080 series performance.

Re: Arbitrage
by

In reality, arbitrage is not that simple. One of your limiting factor is how fast you can transfer your coins from one exchange platform to another exchange platform.

Many exchange platforms have daily withdrawals. This means by the time you clear your coin transfer, the arbitrage opportunity is already long gone. You also carry significant delta exposure during the transfer process.

I think you should try using EWBF v0.5 mining to mine Equihash coins. The P104 should be really good at mining those coins, e.g. AION (v210_9). Performance is somewhere between 1080 and 1080Ti.

Imho, EWBF is the most efficient miner that gives you the highest profit per day.

Think pricing for the pro cards is (roughly):

Quadro RTX 5000: $2300 (£1800)
Quadro RTX 6000: $6,300 (£4390)
Quadro RTX 8000: $10,000 (£7828)

I say what people really care about is GTX 2080 series. That's a mass market product that everyone can relate to.

Your cards are already overclocked so EthEnlargement will not work. The only way to tune your cards is to decrease power consumption setting down GPU Core voltage to 800 mV or decreasing TDP to 60-70% and increase memory frequency +400-800 Mhz depending on your chips.

Wait, so ETHEnlargement is just overclocking? I thought it is more about memory timing tuning. I don't see why it wouldn't work on P104 if it's memory timing settings.  Huh

Correct. ETHlargement is essentially tweaks in memory timings. It is a pure software change implementation. Kudos to the developments who came up with this genius mod though  Roll Eyes
