Re: Crypto and Taxes?
by
xEisen
on 04/01/2018, 09:12:51 UTC
Hi,
Does anyone have an understanding of how taxes work with cryptocurrency?

I read about capital gains tax, but what if the BTC i have was donated to me at first?

In the US it seems the taxes for cryptocurrency can be complex. You should expect that you have to pay SOME tax on your cryptocurrency otherwise the IRS might come looking for you! I tried to read into it via the IRS but it's pretty confusing. It seems to be they want you to report EVERY gain/lose when trading cryptocurrency. They expect it to be recorded so it can be verified I presume? I also believe that an income tax is expected from the profits of your cryptocurrency when turned into fiat currency. It's a real mess...I think the IRS is asking for tips/suggestions regarding cryptocurrency but I don't know where exactly you would go to email/mail them.

Where was it ever reported that we would get the "wraith protocols" on Jan. 1st 2018? I can't find an official announcement ANYWHERE. Just people making shit up. I don't think there was ever a time table on the update and I don't think January 1st was the "due date".

If the developers could atleast get the master node requirements to 10million coinss, more people would put money in, I guess. 30million is way too much to put in a coin with limited developers activities or MAP. Give a map with plans a

I kinda agree with what Nateboy is saying. 30 Million for masternode (approx $17k at current coin value). Imagine if the price goes to $0.001 or $0.1.

They should have made it scale with Linda's price. I think the point was they didn't want everyone doing it so the people who do it have to put some skin the in game...Bad side is people that might actually want to help the project have to find a way to get the 30 million but on the bright side if you do have the 30 million and it reaches $0.1 or $0.01 that's a good payment

Re: The Downfall of Crypto Begins with XRP

Soon we will have also crytocurrencies created by states, fully centralized I guess, I wonder if they will be listed on coinmarketcap.
This was bound to happen eventually even without Ripple. I think there are big corporations experimenting with the blockchain software. When it does happen they will denounce all other cryptocurrency as unsafe and unlawful. The masses will then flee to the centralized cryptocurrencies...

The antivirus guy got hacked!
How stupid for those are following mcafee's tweet just give an advice to buy and buy more various altcoin without any explanation about that, basically that's just like telling another to buy shitcoin and then pump it for the hackers. Glad to see the McAfee account has back again.

For those are following it just try to do your own research about that rather than follow the hacker.
But a lot of people are spreading it in here.

How do we know his account was hacked? Maybe he's just making shit up and trolling people...

Re: What is the most stable altcoin?
by
xEisen
on 28/12/2017, 21:55:49 UTC
I think the most stable altcoin, as in no enormous drops and sudden pumps will be Litecoin.
It has leveled out and found a stable bottom so now it's just going to be one slow climb to greatness. Thats my prediction at least.
If we want to be really penile than it's the coins that are not worth anything at all. Obviously shit will stay shit.
I agree with litecoin. It's been relatively the same for a while now.

Re: Sold 300k Verge in the last couple of days and quit my job
by

Got Verge way before McAffe suggested it.I actually believe in Verge and think its a good coin. However it exploded way too big and fast for there now to be huge further gains. Its good for long term with coming updates, and I still hold some. But I am now looking for other "young" Anoncoins as when I bought verge for $0.006, ones that still have huge potential.

Monero, ZCoin, Spectre are all way too expensive ... How could they x100 now? Change the world and give people more privacy? I think we need to look at coins that are only just starting, around $10m....

While I truly believe Verge, Monero, ZCoin are all good coins, I think its a bit ridiculous that they could go x50 now like smaller coins can.

I did find Linda which seems interesting and I bought a couple already. Its only at $2m
market cap.

Verge is $2bn, Monero is $6bn, Zcoin is $300m, even Spectre is $42m already (21 times of Linda).

Any other cheap anon coins? I did find ZOIN which seems really interesting too as the team seems
to be idealistic and driven and not just in it for a quick buck, and is now at $10m market cap only.
Am I missing some coins? There must be more anon coins that are still cheap and have hard working, idealistic,
fun devs who want to CHANGE THE WORLD for the better?

Please help me out, thanks and good luck to your holdings too!

I have VERGE too but i'm holding long term. Like you I also bought Linda as well. I like that the developers are active and it just got added to a new exchange.

I think watching them and looking at updates and the community before investing into them is a good idea. Maybe it will make your choice easier.

Re: New Portfolio Set-Up 2018
by
xEisen
on 28/12/2017, 20:08:58 UTC
I'm currently building my portfolio for 2018 and will start buying tomorrow. Currently I've parked my money in Doge Coin, which after my researches seems to be not so clever.

Total invest will be ~5k USD.

Oyster Pearl (PRL)   13,48%
Hawala (HAT)   8,99%
Elixir (ELIX)   8,99%
XSPEC - (SPECTRE)   8,99%
Byteball (GBYTE)   8,99%
Waves (WAVES)   8,99%
Enjin Coin (ENJ)   8,99%
Verge (XVG)   6,74%
Ardor (ARDR)   6,74%
Burst (BURST)   3,37%
Quantstamp (QSP)   3,37%
DeepOnion (ONION)   3,37%
Ripple (XRP)   8,99%

What do you think about my choices?

This is more or less based on information from this forum. But I'm happy to hear your opinion.

I'd add some Ethereum.

That's good to know.  I might invest in a raspberry pi3 to help out depending on how hard that is to set up

It's not to difficult to setup, any problem you run into just ask google, there are walkthroughs for just about any problem you may run into  Grin
Cool thanks for the information.

good thing about this coin at current price of 20 litoshis per is still relatively cheap to get in if all this community organization is starting to take place

snatching a few up.  anybody know how big the photon blockchain is?  Thinkin about leasing a VPS and setting up a fullnode if not to unreasonable.

The Photon blockchain is about 1.15 gig at the moment

It may be cheaper to just get a raspberry pi3 to run a node at home. The Raspberry pi3 can run two blake256 nodes with ease

Here is a link for a complete walk through in setting up a headless Blake256 Coin node on the raspberry pi3  Cool

https://blakecrypto.com/forums/topic/headless-node-raspberry-pi3/

whats the benefit of running a node ? i have some blake256 coins since many time

its harder for attackers with more full nodes it also helps with new block and transaction broadcasting so its a support for network

That's good to know.  I might invest in a raspberry pi3 to help out depending on how hard that is to set up

This is what I think.

-Many people complaining that you should not invest in Verge, I disagree because there are other coins out there that have not been developed in years and are still rising in price. (examples Tittiecoin,Infinitecoin, no active dev and no new plans as far as I know)

-People pooring money into ICO's of which they don't even know if it will ever hit an exchange. That is pure gambling most of the time, why not invest in a coin that has already been trading on many exchanges for years.

-Lots of publicity for Verge that is one of the anon coins that will become more popular like DeepOnion and COLX (check the rise of them both)

-Bad + good publicity = MORE publicity / bigger exposure than other coins

-John McAfee tweeting about it, large amount of followers. He also now says that he expected Verge to go to $0,15 in stead of $15,-. Well that's good we are already there so we can continue upwards.

-Verge was already rising before all these fake accounts tweeting about Verge and pumping the price.

-Verge is one of the least expensive coins in the top 30 that also attracts new people that are looking for a cheap coin that might still have a big upside to go

-Verge is up 2261.46% in these last 30 days, started climbing way before all the FUD about it so a drop of 30%-40% is nothing right

-A cheaper coin like this is what some people want in their portfolio so why not buy this cheap coin, the most popular of all. Other cheap coins are also all on the rise like Embercoin,Paccoin,COLX,Reddcoin,USDE  etc. etc.

Disagree about Tittiecoin. The dev is active and still has faith in the project even after working on it since 2014.

I think that looking at the graph of big gains in several days people automatically assume something is a good investment. Look at OX, it's a dead scam coin that was recently pumped and dumped. I think people just need to do their own research before investing in cryptos and that would save a lot of the headache. There are a lot of good projects that are getting screwed because people get caught in pump and dumps then come complain that the project is a scam...

Sucks man, but I think this is gonna help you a lot down the road. Real projects can be hit with pump and dumps and other people just looking to make a quick buck. Do your own research and never put in more than you can lose that way you can still hold on even if it falls. My belief is that Verge will be up again but all this nonsense is gonna temporarily lower its value.
