Re: What is bitcoin

What do you say when asked this question from a friend who has only heard its name mentioned a few times in the news and has no clue. I find myself lately taking the easy way out and suggesting google. I would prefer to give a clearer answer, but usually saying something leads to more questions and more confusion.
If someone could point me to a twitter type answer that would inform and twig their curiosity, i think it would be a better outcome.

It is the first decentralized peer-to-peer payment network that is powered by its users with no central authority or middlemen. Bitcoin was the first practical implementation and is currently the most prominent triple entry bookkeeping system in existence.

Re: Why is bitcoin the most popular cryptocurrency?
by
xander ford
on 27/10/2017, 11:44:12 UTC
I believe that they're popular mainly because well it was the first of all cryptocurrencies to be made. Honestly most of the other coins are scams and greedy ways that the developers make money. The only other coin I can think of that isn't a scam are dogecoins! What do you think?

because bitcoin Bitcoin is amazing! There’s a limit to how many will ever exist and significant control over my own money.  And Even if Bitcoin continues to be the most valuable cryptocurrency, there may be room for altcoins to serve some other niche and hence may not be bad bets in their own right.

Similar why facebook is most popular social network web site.To benefit most from first application of bitcoin currency, you need a network of people spending it and accepting it. The network effect must not be underestimated.

I would like to know your opinion on what factors cause the value of Bitcoin to drop. A brief explanation helps.

Hence, it is no surprise that some of the big digital market currency players tend to manipulate the markets. They do so for their own profit.

Hello pals,
Recently I introduced Bitcoin and cryptocurrency to my friends and family, they liked the concept but they asked me a question that I wasn't able to answer. Is Bitcoin really secure? What if a hacker was able to hack Bitcoin system/blockchain?Who manages Bitcoin security and what are the security measures taken to avoid hackers being able to steal Bitcoins? Why Bitcoin is not blocked for those who use it illegally by buying/selling in the deepweb market? What if governements ban Bitcoin because of these people?
I really appreciate if you  guys give me some answers

for me i think yes bitcoin really secure because Since Bitcoins operate without a central authority, supply is regulated by software as well as agreement by the network, and cannot be manipulated by any government, bank, organization or individual.

Bitcoin is the future of money, or so they say.

I would like to hear your opinions on Why should people use Bitcoin?

for me I think the main reason why should people use bitcoin is the same as to invest in any other assets  make capital. Bitcoin is a volatile currency, thereby many people hope to gain a lot from trading.

Re: How long bitcoin will survive ?

Have you guys ever think to how long is bitcoin will survive in this world ? Well, I mean is there anything that can make bitcoin bankrupt or low price, then possibly will make bitcoiners doesn't want to invest anymore. And also is there any solution to avoid those thing. Just wonder to know.

for me Bitcoin is here to stay. There will be so much software built around bitcoin that it can't die. Bitcoin will be improved to have any superior traits that any other superior digital currency might have. Like HTTP won't ever die, it will just evolve as needed.

I personally know quite a bit about Bitcoin. However, this thread is for the community here. The idea is every post should contain NEW info which hasn't previously been posted in this thread.

For example, I will start with the obvious: Bitcoin is internet money

Is this a perfect explanation? Of course not. This is where you come in.

Please post the most detailed aspects about Bitcoin you know, without repeating any info previously posted in this thread.

The idea is as we scroll down, the discussion should get continually more complicated as we dig further into the technology, development, history, etc.

Make sense?

So I will repeat the starting point: Bitcoin is internet money

for me bitcoin is a type of digital currency in which encryption techniques are used to regulate the generation of units of currency and verify the transfer of funds, operating independently of a central bank.

Where does bitcoin came from? How it's made and how does it expand/grow? Thank you for any answers.

Bitcoins are created as a reward for a process known as mining. They can be exchanged for other currencies, products, and services.

Why did Satoshi hide his identity? Has anyone seen Satoshi in real life?
Is Satoshi one person? Or is it a community?

why did he hide his identy because If his identity was revealed, then he would not have a good life, because of all the media/government interference. The community has it's way, and everything is alright.

Re: Will Bitcoin overcome Paypal?
by
xander ford

Do you think that sometime in the future, Bitcoin might overcome Paypal, as it scales in capacity and userbase over the years?

We already have the ability to create our own marketplace with OpenBazaar, that uses Bitcoin as its payment method, so it should be no surprise that the combination of these two may be a fierce competition for both eBay and Paypal.

Nevertheless, feel free to vote on the poll above and express your opinion about it, if desired.  Grin

i hope so but they have different ways of protection services and paypal is really secured .

Re: Why does China hate Bitcoin?
by

This is pretty much the whole story right here...

Quote
" NIFA official Li Lihui told a technology conference in Shanghai on Friday that a goal of China’s monetary regulation is to ensure that “the source and destination of every piece of money can be tracked.” "

Bitcoin is the mortal enemy of 'tracking'.  Therefore China is going to continue to assault Bitcoin from every angle.  You can be sure of that.

it is because why china hate bitcoin maybe They're simply afraid of it. Did you know 40% of Bitcoin investors were chinese? Chinese government doesn't want yens to be replaced by Bitcoins.

Re: Difference between Bitcoin and real money?
by
xander ford
on 11/10/2017, 17:52:01 UTC
I've discovered Bitcoin few days ago, but I am skeptical about few things, why would I invest money in Bitcoins at the end of the day,why would I convert money into Bitcoins?

If I want to buy stocks or invest money I can easily invest with real $. Why would I convert my $ to bitcoins?
If I want to gamble , I can simply gamble on websites that require $ as currency, why would I convert it to bitcoins?
What's the difference between Bitcoins and dolars? What does bitcoin bring to the table that real $ don't, less taxes, more income?

for me the differences between bitcoin and real money is first bitcoins acceptance as payment for a debt is entirely voluntary. and
It can be bought over the internet as well as it can be used to purchase items from different online businesses.  and the  Money is what we use every day to pay our liabilities, and this includes currency and, to a much bigger extent, our bank account balances that provide the source for our check, wire transfer, debit card, and credit card payments.

Re: Who is Satoshi? Why did he hide his identity?

the entity using the satoshi pseudonym is one person. that is established.

however satoshis idea's are a patchwork of many older concepts that alone would not work but satoshi was the brainchild of patching it all together into something that works. plus adding his own customisations and extra tweaks to it. which made it special and unique

also satoshi, worked with other people. that is established. but only the single entity used the satoshi pseudonym. all the rest helping out used their own pseudonyms.

base on what iread on internet satoshi we may not know who he or she was, we know what he did. Satoshi Nakamoto was the inventor of the bitcoin protocol, satoshi worked with people on the open source team, but took care never to reveal anything personal about himself and the last anyone heard from him was in the spring of 2011 when he said that he had “moved on to other things".

Re: Advantages of paying with Bitcoin
by
xander ford
on 09/10/2017, 00:25:05 UTC
So today I purchased web hosting from Namecheap using Bitcoin and it was incredibly cheap, simple and best of all, anonymous. When it comes to website ownership, depending on the kinds of sites you are building, this can be an important thing.

One of the reasons why Bitcoin took off initially was because of its privacy and anonymity benefits. Back then there were so few places where you could actually spend Bitcoin, so people ended up purchasing illegal things to test out the platform.

Now, we can see and trust definite advantages that Bitcoin as a technology brings - secure store of value, anonymity, global/universal currency, transparency (blockchain), software apps can be built on top, etc

but I really just wanted to get your opinion...

What are some advantages of paying with Bitcoin?

For me So with bitcoin, we have a secure, programmable form of money that can be used for global transactions, that cannot be forged, that is fully audit-able, that is actually software that can be built into anything and everything.

Re: What are your plans with your Bitcoin?

on 06/10/2017, 16:07:53 UTC
Hi guys Smiley May I know what are your plans on your Bitcoin in the future? Do you plan to keep on investing on Bitcoin related businesses or do plan to convert it into fiat and ventures on new business?

I'm planning to invest more on Bitcoin related companies and convert some of my Bitcoin into fiat and invest it on our local stock market. How about you?

There's no much places to invest, also we can see a lot of scams related to bitcoin.

My plan is use it as a currency, not an investment, just spend some coins here and there and that's it.

Im planning to invest more bitcoin for my future purposes.
