Arux/Stoffu (or others):

Would it be possible to create an Appveyor.yml script so we can build the Aeon binaries ourselves using Appveyor.com? They already have Boost/Cmake. I'm not skilled enough to properly write the script myself, but here's an initial take:  Grin

Code:
version: 1.0.{build}
configuration: Release
platform: x64
before_build:

  cd C:\projects\aeon

  git checkout v0.9.12.0

  mkdir build

  cd build

  cmake -G "Visual Studio 14 2015 Win64" -DBOOST_ROOT=C:/Libraries/boost_1_63_0 -DBOOST_LIBRARYDIR=C:/Libraries/boost_1_63_0/lib64-msvc-14.0 ..

  ls

build:
  project: C:\projects\aeon\build\Project.sln
  parallel: true
  verbosity: minimal
after_build:
- cmd: 7z a aeon-0.9.12.0.zip C:\projects\aeon\build\src\release\aeond.exe C:\projects\aeon\build\src\release\simplewallet.exe
artifacts:
- path: aeon-0.9.12.0.zip

The above build is failing though: https://paste.fedoraproject.org/paste/LLPA9prvltZLI4~XkCUO8F5M1UNdIGYhyRLivL9gydE=

Maybe because Appveyor only has 4GB RAM...

Yes, everyone likes no ICO no premine, but from the other side - we do not have free KRB to pay for development. Though I am not sure that premined payment for development would have some value. The only way to pay for development we have now is donations based fund raising. Like last fundraising for web wallet. We are going to do that for any development and will see if this currency has decent community capable to fund development realizing that this will drive their KRB capital growth.

If you have a strong enough vision for Karbowanec, then the donations will come, development will come, merchants will come. Other Ukrainians will get the vision and become passionate too. Strong defined vision is all what matters right now. And, of course, hard work.  Smiley Of course, strong vision is a desire to help Ukraine, not quick money. With no premine and no ICO you will earn that respect and that vision will become stronger. You have earned some respect from me because of this.

I like the limited scope of this coin. The Ukraine focus is your "unique selling proposition": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unique_selling_proposition. It is what makes Karbowanec special, a currency not for the world, just for Ukraine. Very cool. This limited scope will allow you to add many things Monero cannot add, features specific to Ukraine.

Some ideas:

  • Perhaps biggest: Coin with national pride for Ukraine. People use KRB and feel "Yes! We are Ukraine!" Money stays local. Does not leave the country. Generally keeps wealth within Ukraine. People buying from each other helps the country get better and healthier.
  • Decentralized exchange support. "Meet me at coffee shop X in Kiev". People meet up to trade paper currency for KRB. This exchange built into Karbo GUI? Very cool.
  • Education on website about how blockchain tech can help Ukraine, how blockchain tech fights corruption and bribery, etc

In my opinion it is crucial, for the vision, that you communicate some Ukrainian specific features that you might add. It helps people see where this coin is going. It will help generate the support you need to help Karbowanec become the Ukrainian crypto.

How is KRB different from the standard Cryptonote implementation? It seems it is currently very close to stock. If it is, how do you plan on changing it in the future?

Edit:

Here is a question I asked about Karbowanec on the XMR stack exchange.

https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/2483/how-is-karbowanec-different-from-monero

I am interested in supporting a "Ukrainian Monero" as you called it earlier. No premine - no ICO is good.

What is your vision for this coin? Helping the Ukrainian people?

OK, maybe I misused the white paper term in place of roadmap or whatever you want to call it. That's what I suggested in the reddit thread, re: consensus. Let me know when more that 50% of the clients on the network and 50% of blocks generated are coming from your version, and I'll gladly give you full control of subreddit again. You're free to post in the meantime, just not sticky your roadmap and change the links in the sidebar.

Thanks, well I'd like to collaborate and I'm not trying to fork the network so users can run any client they want. It is just you and boolberry moderating the subreddit (there isn't much activity there regardless, even over the past few months). I think the community would like a steward of that subreddit that is committed to this project

1blockologist,

Stop, man. Just... stop. These endless veiled power plays make it obvious that you don't have BBRs long-term interest at stake. Everybody smells it. We're not idiots. All you're doing is making yourself look bad. Maybe you're still holding a ton of BBR and you need the "vision" to stay alive. Maybe there's some other valid rationale. I don't know.

In fact, I don't know you at all, as a real person, so what I say next is going to be a generalization only based on how you've communicated online: your words have started to sound kind of sad. Like "I wonder how much this guy hates himself" kind of sad. Man, life is bigger than this! You're obviously a very talented guy. It takes a lot of creativity and grit and courage to come as far as you did. But the music has stopped.

You kind of sound like someone who lost their center. Maybe you need to go get in touch with yourself, starting with a good nights sleep. And afterward, perhaps a humble bowl of peyote and a solo trek in the Nevada desert. Whatever you need to get back what you used to have, and now struggle to feel. I took a month to hike some monastic trails in Montserrat one time. That did the trick for me.

Whatever the case is, I hope you find it, and rediscover that thing you're looking for. I wish future work for you that both makes you feel alive and earns people's applause.

Best
Eric

I was legitimately interested in this currency because it is one of the few CryptoNote based ones still in development. Then I read more about "1Blockologist" and I was turned off again. He seems like a scam artist, lots of big talk and little actual hard code to show for it. Easy commits mean nothing.

CryptoZoidberg, looking forward to you coming back!

Solved it, thanks to Luigi1111 (creator of BBR address generator). Just for the record, you restore from seed by:

1. Building the Boolberry program from source (download does not have the --restore-wallet option)
2. Using the command:

Code:
simplewallet --restore-wallet --restore-seed "24-word mnemonic seed"

Luigi helped convert my 25-word seed to a 24-word seed, but in the future he said he might update the generator so it is automatically a 24-word seed.

Edit: Just FYI, but the build-from-source wallet was not updating except for the past 1500 blocks, so my wallet was showing a balance of zero. To get the cold storage funds it was like 5000 blocks back, so I had to go into the source and change the update point to get it to scan the blockchain far back enough. Anyways, it's all finished. Thanks again Luigi1111!

Code:
--restore-wallet "mnemonic seed"

This did not work. It says "unrecognized option'', which makes me think my Boolberry simplewallet does not have this command. Or I wonder if it's because the mnemonic seed is different on https://xmr.llcoins.net/. You mention a 24-word mnemonic seed, but the llcoins generator gave me a 25-word mnemonic seed. I also tried shortening the words to three letters, since that's what most mnemonic seeds look at. This did not work either.

Code:
--restore-seed

This is not an option in my version of Simplewallet (v0.3.0.41).

Any other ideas? Do I need to build from source for these two options? That is what I will try right now.

Edit: I successfully installed the newer version that has --restore-wallet and --restore-seed, but it is asking for a 24-word seed, and the generator I used gave me a 25-word seed. Any ideas?

I sent some BBR to a wallet generated on this page: https://xmr.llcoins.net/

I don't see a simplewallet command to restore from a mnemonic seed or view/spend keys. Are my coins lost?
