In theory it is quite simple, if you have the private key that unencrypts what ever is encrypted using 1K83foH3zcUnm1gpLXVKYda4r1vSwE1VXh, then you own those bitcoins.. the thing is doing this test can be a relatively difficult task...(technically speaking). You could try encrypting some words... and trying to unencrypt using the private key... maybe someone with a better technical background can help!?

not sure I follow you agustinfl, however my coins did just show up in my wallet....

Coins not showing up in my wallet (using MultiBit)

Hi,
I had mined using Deepbit as my pool a couple years ago and forgot.  I just recently logged on to transfer my coins to my wallet (which i am using MultiBit)  I made this transfer nearly 4 days ago and am still not seeing any coins in my wallet.  Am I missing something that is completely obvious??  Here is the record from Blockexplorer....

Thanks!

in all honesty, could it still be profitable to get into mining?

Say I was to buy a machine like this:

http://advancedminers.com/bitcoin-mining-hardware/1-2ths-bitcoin-miner/?gclid=CKjFyaOSnLsCFYl9OgodXFMASQ

If I am really mining at 1.2 TH/s then I am generating roughly 25BTC per month....

From this standpoint, it seems like a no brainer....the machine cost $6K, so I would make it up in one week of mining.....

Am I missing something?  I know the difficulty will be going up.....
And what happens in 2016?  BTC gets halved every 4 years?  What is that all about?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
RLF

I did recover my pictures, music and other personal files but did not get the wallet.dat file :/  didn't even think of it when I was recovering because it was a miracle my computer even turned on that day...come to think of it, I wonder if I fried the thing mining.  it was a macbook pro.  i thought i had recovered what I needed, so I threw the thing away....wish I hadn't!!

Also...according to blockchain, my coins have "not yet been redeemed" but I think that just means that I have not sent them elsewhere or "spent" them.
Am I wrong?  Could deepbit somehow recover them?

Hehe...well....no dice guys :/  God bless I wish I hadn't thrown out that computer.  It fried though....wish I had made a proper backup of my wallet.  I wasn't even thinking back then...nor did I ever think bitcoin would take off like it has....

Ah well....there's at least a few hundred bucks lost.  I wonder how many people this has happened to...

Thanks again.

I just found an old drive with some backups on it!  I did not backup the "Applications" folder but nearly did everything else....would the backup file be a .dat file?  Most likely located somewhere....?

Mining at 50 MH/S for the next month, if you are mining 24 hours per day, will yield you 0.001 BTC.
With the current difficulty, mining is not what it used to be.  Use a BTC calculator to see what I mean.....

Hello!,
Funny this is my first post here but have been a member for two years.
That very same two years ago I spent some time mining....that computer has since crashed and I do not have a backup of the hard drive, or even have that computer anymore.  I threw it in the trash.
My question is this...is there any way to recover the coin I had mined and sent to my Bitcoin QT wallet.....I was using Deepbit.net as my pool, and the history is still in my rewards history on the pool website.  Is there ANYTHING I can do?  Or am I shit out of luck....

Hope it's not the latter...

Thanks for any replies...!
