Police issue arrest warrant for bitcoin scammer in Cyprus:
http://cyprus-mail.com/2014/04/11/cyprus-police-issue-arrest-warrant-for-bitcoin-entrepreneur/

Cyprus is a member of the EU, as is Estonia, where Kiur Koster is based.

Importantly, it only took 3 formal complaints for the arrest warrant to be issued.

Kiur - are you paying attention? This is your fate should bitcoin not be returned, pronto.

I'm still not convinced this is a scam. Just poor customer service and PR, because it's effectively a 1-man show with lots of issues to deal with (and likely another full-time job).

I think Kiur got caught out when the BTC got stolen. Reddcoin miners were also flooding his exchange with dust transactions, causing transactions to fail.
He's evidently now working through all the failed alt-coin transactions, and I suspect in the meantime hopes transaction fees will cover some of the BTC lost.

Question is, how much BTC got stolen, and how much was saved in offline wallets?

Kiur - we're a forgiving bunch, please just communicate your situation with us!

Here's an suggestion:
Re-credit all 'lost' BTC withdrawals back to their respective accounts. This would allow these people to trade and generate fees.
Until you have enough BTC to cover all withdrawals, any withdrawal from the exchange would be subject to a percentage haircut. Up to you how to calculate, based on timing and % lost.
Eventually you will become fully solvent once again, and we'll all be happy. Your exchange is one of the best, without these lost coin and bad PR issues of course.  Grin

got some leaf back a couple of days ago, now waiting for the last 4.8M.

But has anyone got any bitcoin back lately?

How much bitcoin was stored in their offline wallet and saved?

Is coinmarket.io opening on another host, or shutting down for good?

So few answers...

Received my coins. To bad that this exchange had so much trouble to go through. I hope everyone got their coins too. Best regards to developers team, hope you will do your best from now on.

They have given some people there alt coins back. The discussions is about bitcoins.

Agree, they don't want the penny alts.

The list that Kiur published of stuck transactions totalled over 700 bitcoins, and that was a set time period and only attempted withdrawals.
I predict thousands of bitcoin has been 'taken'... how is this not mainstream news?!?!?

Think you have found the real culprit here as coinmarket is now offline altogether.  Not even a cloudflare cache.

Its gone.  And the btc gone with it.

BTC was long gone.

Just follow deposit addresses, it was all swept away over a month ago to endpoints like:

Odd thing is the above addresses have added about 4000 BTC in the past week.

Maybe they are gambling sites or some other exchanges offline store?
Can we confirm?

Just letting you know that Kiur is deleting any posts that expose his details.

As coinmarket.io started this self-moderated thread, he is able to manipulate what data is exposed.
Interestingly, Kiur had no issues when Kenneth's details were exposed, only his own.

Whether or not coinmarket was established as a scam, it's now evolved into one.

I suggest it's time for this to go mass-media.

It's huge. By my calculations thousands of bitcoins have been stolen.

We only have the word of coinmarket that it got hacked.  They may have been the ones taking the coins all along.  Until they start talking or somebody meets this guy face to face we will have zero answers.  My money is on Loud being the culprit.

There's also a post by Kiur on github about a security breach, aligning with when withdrawals stopped 2 months ago: https://github.com/felixge/node-mysql/issues/731

Just in case you guys are wondering if this is a scam exchange, let me introduce you to the freshmarket.io scam claiming to be a hack.

This is where a portion of LTC was "stolen" around 40% as this was a LTC exchange also only interested in new alt coins, we going to hear a similar sad story with coinmarket
about how much btc those hackers stole from the exchange ...awwww so sad it breaks my heart, let all as a community give % of our btc to help this poor exchange
administrator, awwww shame...

Thanks for sharing, a classic scam. Besides all the vapid lip service, Coinmarket is now looking even more like fraud.

The list of 2500 withdrawal attempts provided (which does not include all withdrawals) totals over 700 BTC.
We can assume coinmarket.io managed BTC into the thousands, if not tens of thousands.

Think about it... the opportunity to walk away with millions in equivalent fiat with complete anonymity.
Totally life changing money.

Posting private information is illegal in my country. You're committing a crime as well Wink

Then you better get onto the cops quick smart and report LinkedIn, Google, Facebook, Gulesider, 180.no, skatt.adressa.no, etc!

http://www.gulesider.no/p/kenneth+bj%C3%B8rke/78264091

http://www.180.no/telefonkatalogen/kenneth+bj%C3%B8rke/64c3da650500z0f39z113eza107zf24a0ec4.htm

http://www.telefonkatalogen.biz/personinfo/kenneth-bj%C3%B8rke/7eg3c75hxp34cxg644xn6h3x338389cf6e79.html

And check out this one, includes his salary FFS!:
http://skatt.adressa.no/2009/person?id=235800
(they pay a lot of tax in Norway, evidently)

I'm starting to think Kenneth couldn't possibly be a scammer. There is WAY too much private information all over the Internet.
He may be being used by the real, anonymous owner, in which case he's the biggest sucker of all time. Release the owner details quick smart!!!

What the fck, it's not nice to post personal information including family etc. on here. What if the posted person is actually not the scammer?

fuck coinmarket Lips sealed

There is nothing posted here that isn't available by a simple Google search. It's all public.

BTY this is not about being 'nice'. This is now a major crime. Bitcoin sent to Coinmarket has been tumbled into addresses totalling almost US$100m.

We require common data in order to coordinate information submission via Interpol to Norway.

Granted there's a small chance Kenneth isn't the owner, however he is confirmed to be:
a) More involved in crytocurrency than he is making out.
b) Withholding vital information that would assist recovery of stolen bitcoin.
c) Intimately involved with the running of the site, either providing a 'packaged solution' or running day-to-day operations.
d) Complicit in keeping the site running whilst more victims submit bitcoin.

Some thoughts on prime suspect, Kenneth Bjorke / Bjoerke / Bjørke:

  • There is no evidence of any hosting company Kenneth runs, including on LinkedIn, websites, advertisements, etc. Nothing.
  • How would the owner (if it isn't Kenneth) have made contact and purchased a hosting service? This is implausible.
  • Kenneth claims he is just a web host, and only just signed up to [Suspicious link removed] (just google "yacoin kbjoerke").
Surely anyone mining Yacoin in mid-2013 was also into bitcoin and would have an account on bitcointalk before yacointalk.
  • Kenneth claims he isn't working at Fred Olsen as his LinkedIn suggests, but the email address kenneth.bjorke@fredolsen.no is valid and works.
  • The other name associated with the domain name, 'Anette Enger' has a PO Box address that is used by Fred Olsen, Kenneth's company.
  • If Kenneth is just web host, why was the coinmarket.io domain name changed to be in his name, albeit briefly? Why would any other domain owner do this?
  • If Kenneth is innocent but is feeling threatened, why is he still protecting the owner after cancelling their service? Why face all the heat?
  • How is it that Cryptoex.cc is identical to Coinmarket.io? Is this the next bitcoin-scamming site?
  • Kenneth lists some telling skills on Linkedin, including public-key infrastructure (pki) as well as ethical and black hat hacker groups.

Follow your coinmarket bitcoin deposit address and any deposits were sent through a web of multiple splits and combines (tumbling?), into ultimately very large addresses:

Unless Coinmarket.io got hacked, it was established with one purpose only: to steal bitcoin. They do not care about penny alts.
If Kenneth was legitimate, he has an immediate duty to shutdown Coinmarket.io before anyone else deposits bitcoin.
Kenneth is thus highly likely the culprit, or culpable by withholding information and continuing to operate the site being a party to fraud.

Anyone with bitcoin stolen should immediately submit a criminal report to Norway, through Interpol using your local police department.
The following information can be used along with your own evidence to support your legal action / crime reports :

Name: Kenneth Bjorke
Birthdate: 1st July 1979
Age: 34
Address: Knapstadveien 6F, 1823 KNAPSTAD, Ostfold, Norway
Occupation: Senior IT Operations and Infrastructure, at Fred Olsen (April 2011 - Present)
Work Email: kenneth.bjorke@fredolsen.no
Mobile: +47 93 97 23 52
Phone1: +47 41 53 37 65
Phone2: +47 41 26 19 46

All of this information is publicly available:
http://www.gulesider.no/p/kenneth+bj%C3%B8rke/78264091
http://www.180.no/telefonkatalogen/kenneth+bj%C3%B8rke/64c3da650500z0f39z113eza107zf24a0ec4.htm
http://www.telefonkatalogen.biz/personinfo/kenneth-bj%C3%B8rke/7eg3c75hxp34cxg644xn6h3x338389cf6e79.html

https://twitter.com/kbjoerke
http://no.linkedin.com/in/kbjoerke
https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001666663558

Laws are tough in Norway. Kenneth is culpable and going to prison unless 'stuck' Bitcoin withdrawals are immediately processed.

I think they lost a lot of money due to a bug in their system, where the user could withdraw twice, so they had no other option but to run with the money they had left.

Starting to look that way. Been following coinmarket BTC deposits through  multiple transactions, eventually coming across these two final unspent destinations:

43,222 BTC: https://blockchain.info/address/14e7XAZbepQp9MXXzjNG3fNLoAUpaBAXHW

43,250 BTC: https://blockchain.info/address/1PnMfRF2enSZnR6JSexxBHuQnxG8Vo5FVK

I don't think coinmarket could have possibly have controlled around 100k BTC.

Could these addresses be on another exchange now?
Did someone gamble deposits away?
Did coinmarket get hacked, with the bitcoin ending up in some giant piles of stolen coin?

Anyone with BTC 'stuck', simply lookup your coinmarket wallet BTC deposit address on blockchain.

You will find your coins have moved around a LOT, much more than an offline wallet manoeuvre could justify.
