Well i think the best thing you need to look into before investing into cryptocurrency is there whitepapers. There whitepapers will tell you more and more about them but that's not really all you need to make a good research about that project.

Yes offcourse i have been almost scammed when am still new in cryptocurrency a scammer told me to pay him 500$ to make it turn to 1500$ but i did not pay why because at that time i use to fear anything about crypto.

That the main problem some ico use to have after suffering particpating in there bounty you won't get paid some will tell you that the have extend there date from extending there date you will not hear anything from them again.
