Yes wallet work, but not anymore on small computer. My wallet can't run anymore on an old AMD A4-4000 (3.0 GHz). He does orphan 99% of the time, wallet not responding if your try to do anything with it, no way to do any transaction in coin control without having to wait 5min before wallet respond.

Moved this wallet on an AMD FX-6300, and wallet use 50% of the cpu when stake is in progress and biger my wallet is slower it will be soon and won't be able to run it on this cpu too.  Undecided

It was nice at the beggining of hbn, just start to have some coin, and forget about your wallet while is stake Smiley

This is strange, my 1.5.3 HBN wallet when fully synced and staking takes no more then 10-15% on FX-8320E (stock).
And orphan rates are usually no more then 10% on big stakes (2000-5000 HBN). Memory usage is big, yes.

Im using this addnodes in hobonickels.conf if it may help someone:

What's the current status of this coin? Is my understanding correct that the dev left and has returned?

Hey Tranz, just for the info - links to explorers (HBN PressTab.pw Explorer, HBN on Cryptopia Explorer) at http://hobonickels.info/ seems broken.

My only hope, Tranz, is that we will never get to the NVC situation, where the POS difficulty is so high (currently 5.3), that my 100 NVC stake with maximum coin age just can't make a PoS, even though it says 22% probability in 7 days :/

Z0rr0 yes agreed. But with our 30sec block time, that will never happen.

Speaking of NVC, do you have a block count vs memory usage handy?
Ok, if i understood correctly, NVC client (v0.5.8.) currently have 344056 blocks and uses 0.1% CPU and 143.7 MB memory.

Current requests:

Change S4C to 100% - I think I will likely do 75 or 90% for the first change. Then if that goes well change to 100%.  But I can bump it, yes.
Lower CPU  - This will be one of the first one. Multiple changes for this.
Lower Memory - Most important but also most difficult. Will take much time, but will begin to investigate this and see what can be done.   Need help from the crowd on this one. What POS coins are out there that have the least memory?  New coins don't count. Have to have few years under their belt.

What else?

Hi to all fellow hobos!
Tranz, may be you should contact Balthazar, the author of one of the oldest Pos coins - NVC. He is quite a wise man, and could be helpful i think.
Concerning NVC blocks and memory usage - currently it has 341402 blocks and uses only 181.8 Mb memory, at 0.5% CPU.

Coinotron, your site says ZEC mining difficulty is 16.
However, my 250 sol/s card barely can find any shares, and the pool constantly switches to a new block, so i give almost no solutions...
I understand that high diff shares value more, and so on, but variable diff could be helpful for slow miners.

I like that you are still on board (as far as i remember, one of the oldest pools, was here around 2013-2014).
Please consider comfort for small retro miners like myself, and may be more miners will switch to you cause of PPS payout.

Nevertheless, again congrats on durability of operation and long live!

Hello guys, I've been "offline" for quite a long time...
How is it going with mining (XPM for example), is it still profitable in terms of electricity bills?

How is profitability compared to X11 coins\multipools?

Thanks and happy mining)

v8 -> v9 power consumption jump Sad ~35%

How did you measure it?
What cards do you use?
I see much less jump, may be 5-10%.
Guys, can someone with a wattmeter measure the exact power consumption of v8 and v9 compared to scrypt mining?
Cause we may be close to the edge, when even xpm gpu mining becomes unprofitable in terms of electricity bills...

On most GPUs triggered throttling v9, no settings do not help, I do not know what to do = (
I had such throttling with one of 7950 even with v8.
On v9 situation repeated. I'm using heavily undervolted GPUs, so I dropped core clock a bit, added +10 power limit and throttling gone, straight 99% gpu load.

v1.5-v8 all gpu work norm.
v9 - 7x7850 Gigabyte, 8x270X Powercolor/Sapphire, 6x7950 ASUS/Gigabyte/Sapphire VaporX, 2x280X MSI - work normally
v9 - 10x7950 Sapphire Dual X & 20x270X Gigabyte(Best card in its class) - trottling. I have tried all possible options settings nothing helps.

Those cards that work norms:
            v 8.0                                       v 9.0
280X   164k 4ch & TRT 152 & 4.9CPD ->  186k 4ch & TRT 132 & 5.5CPD-- CPD + 12%
7950   127k 4ch & TRT 195 & 3.7CPD ->  143k 4ch & TRT 170 & 4.2CPD-- CPD + 13%
270X   103k 4ch & TRT 242 & 3.0CPD ->  116k 4ch & TRT 200 & 3.4CPD-- CPD + 13%
7850     77k 4ch & TRT 320 & 2.3CPD ->   92k 4ch & TRT 267 & 2.7CPD-- CPD + 17%

I just noticed that without touching any other options (clocking and other) one of my ASUS 7950 (0.97V 950/625) with power limit 0% goes throttle, and with power limit +10% all fine (about 4 CPD).
Another ASUS 7950 on another machine with the same settings and power limit 0% works fine...

So I'm guessing v9 just draws more power...it is possible more noticeable with multi GPUs setups (however it is really strange that it depends on the models of the cards as in your example).

Ok so what if the HBN block chain will be much bigger than now??

When the chain grows larger it just means it takes longer to sync and takes up more storage. Right now the HBN chain is something like 700mb (at least that is the size of my appdata HBN folder), which is not bad at all. It will be somewhere around 1 gb per year.

Ok understood:)

and when it gets a lot much bigger, we can use an hosted version or electrum/multibit type of solution for people wanting to jumpstart the inital load or don't want to host the whole block chain.

With every problem there is a solution, right now this is not an issue.  But it is a valid concern!
Do you think staking will be working with such a "hosted version or electrum/multibit type" wallet?
Looks doubtful to me.

with v 7.0 it was a straight flat line with 99% GPU load

it will be nice if exchange will pay us the stake on our coins if we have them there instead of the wallets.

This could be done, but it would require a good deal of book keeping.

Additionally to gain interest those coins would need to sit on the network hot, and use up CPU power, taking away from deposits/withdraws.  There is risk to an exchange doing this, as such I would guess the majority of the coins are in cold storage, and those that are hot, are set with -reserveblance=999999999
I remember the times when NVC users at BTC-E had issues with deposits and withdrawals coins to/from exchange for several days.
As it turned out, the exchange is for real used its wallet for staking, and when too many inputs were originated (and many unconfirmed stakes, nvc uses 520 confirms for newly minted coins), the exchange's wallet started being laggy.

So, eventually, after consultations with Balthazar, they turned off staking on the exchange to avoid such problems.

Power consumption from wall.

I measured it on one of my rig, not new (old):
 - CPU: core2duo
 - Mem: DDR2 2Gb
 - PSU: Enermax 550W (old, even not bronze)
 - VGA: 2*XFX280X GPU/MEM:1030/1500 VCDD:1v

miner setting GPU 0/1:    -ss 1/2 -t default/8

Miner v2.0 375w
Miner v2.1 380w
Miner v3.0 405w
Miner v3.1b 410w
Miner v4.0 405w
Miner v5.0 400w
Miner v6.0 395w
Very ineresting, aistto.
Could you also measure some statistics for scrypt, scrypt-N, X11 and keccak.
If you can, of course.

I guess power consumption begins being very important for many miners...

I am very sad right now guys. I wish I had seen that coinex was utter bullshit before wasting my btc on it. Lost 114 hbn to that site =(

Oh well... if anyone knows how I can get these out please PLEASE help me. I am really upset about this as money is very hard to come by for some people. (me especially)

The last information from coinex admin: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=265277.msg6355483#msg6355483

Me too have some hobos frozen there for almost a month already.
I consider them lost, just checking the situation periodically.

Which settings one should adjust to decrease effectiveness of mining but to be able to comfortable desctop work at the GPU connected to monitor while mining?
I mean - sacrifice a bit mining and decrease lags while working at the PC (similar to intensity in cgminer)
