funny that.... swapped to getwork from Stratum since it's been 4 days and no shares ( usually 3 per day even if i am CPU mining) and ... insta share ( for a whole 0E-8 but it IS a share! ).  Also, have had no stale shares on Stratum ( or any shares ) since the DDos.

[EDIT]
Great, now insta 2 stale shares on get work....

is this a typical problem for you/others? i just started GPU mining a couple of weeks ago and don't know if i'm getting stale shares or not...but i'm getting paid every other day so how bad can it be? not mining at any sort of impressive rate, but it's working as proof of concept for future build plans  Cool

btw, thx to slush for operating the pool. i see a lot of whining and complaining in this thread, but not too many thank yous. so thanks.

Get a program called GUIMiner and it's pretty simple to get mining...

My computer is honestly WAY too shitty for stuff like that.

You may be surprised. What kind of GPU are you working with?

Hello,

I would suggest reading this to get started:

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_Hardware_Comparison

Keep in mind the difficulty for BTC mining has increased since ASICs are coming online, so your ability to mine for profit and/or to recover hardware costs may be limited with BTC.

You may consider mining other coins, or purchasing coins outright through an exchange if you're looking to invest.

Best of luck

WOW

Temperature is down to 67 degrees Celsius.

Fan speed down to 86% from 100%

3rd GPU up from 360 MHash to 530 Mhash.

Think I fixed the problem.

Thank you all.

A simple fan lol

cooling is important. there's a reason the biggest miners are using open air setups.

cheers

Re: NVIDIA Kepler (K20) from 134MHash/s to 330MHash/s with CUDA

So the thread says going from 134 - 330.. I have yet to see any sort of leap from using other miners or rpcminer at default.  I realize that people are working on functions to try to improve that and their efforts are greatly appreciated but, I think all of us would like to see a nice bump in our mining with our nvidia cards.

thoughts?

I saw you mention 560 Ti earlier. That's my card. What hash rate did you see before/after this mod? I'm getting 80-90 mh/s now using GUIMiner w/ rpcminer-cuda.exe but would welcome any additional boost if possible.

If this is about the best I can do with current card, I will likely do a new build + move to Litecoin soon.

thanks

has anyone compiled binaries for Windows x64? very interested in this Smiley

thanks

charliemaggot  created windows binaries:

thank you!

currently just toying around with my older gaming rig to try my hat at mining [thus newbie]

EVGA GeForce GTX 560Ti [stock] hashes at anywhere from 65-90 MH/s

That's using GUIMiner -> rpcminer-cuda.exe

Does anyone know if I can mine LTC using CUDA or OpenCL? I tried to get it rolling last night with no luck. This was while slush's pool was down so I figured it was a good time to give Litecoin a try since I will likely be moving to that with a GPU setup in the near future.

Thanks have a great afternoon

so would someone explain this to me then?

is it possible/likely that one person purchased several Avalons or multiple folks are working together in a pool specifically to cheat the system?

how about the supposed BFL's? would they be detectable if they brought all their miners online to stage such an attack?

That's kind of unbelievable.

What's the problem ?!

I think this is an interesting concept...

That was invented a long time ago, and the problem is that only the first users make profit with that, while the new ones lost a lot of money Sad

Exactly. Use your head, people!

hello and good morning!

just a quick note to introduce myself. engineering background, coding/hardware builds for professional fulfillment/personal satisfaction.

trying my hand at mining on a very small scale. not sure about investing in something more "sustainable" as it appears difficulty will be cranked up beyond the reach of hobbyist GPU miners. here's to hoping for an "affordable" ASIC rig we can actually purchase in the near future?

hope all are having a great weekend. happy mining  Cool

good morning  Cool

new to BTC and mining started earlier this week. just going verrrry slow for now and trying to read as much as i can about the community, technology etc. trying to decide if investing in better mining hardware makes sense with the ASIC stuff happening now. maybe if some folks manage to get a bulk order of the avalon chips and offer something?

for now just running a single GPU CUDA miner as an experiment/for fun *pushes up glasses*

anyway, hello, and thanks in advance for adding me to the list!
