All drawdowns, fortunately, are temporary. You just need to show more patience and resist the temptation to sell your cryptocurrency. Prices will rise and we will earn our money.

OR, sell now and buy back in at a lower price as the market keeps falling. Analysts are saying not to fall for 24-48 hr periods in which prices go up, because all signs point to BTC dropping under $6000. I sold mine at $6900 and if i see a sizable rise i'll buy back in with limited loss. But if it keeps going down im going to wait and buy as low as possible.

Re: How to start Trading for newbie

Hi OP,

Semi-newbie here. I've started trading about a week ago, every night, and sorry to say, reading about it and watching YouTube clips only goes as far as to familiarize you with the procedures, different tools and meanings etc. Nobody in their right mind can tell you what's going to happen, so even experienced traders who sometimes recognize certain patterns that can lead to spikes, will tell you that it can also go the other way at any given moment. It's a lottery more or less.

Here's what I've learned:

1. Don't count your $, only count the amount of crypto you earn/lose
2. 24h volume matters WAY less than 24h change - which is the exact opposite of what some of these YouTubers say. Looking at the 24h change is the best way to KNOW for a fact which coin is truly on a roll compared to either BTC, ETH or whatever. By dominating the exchange, those coins always offer the largest spikes.
3. If you're investing a considerable amount of money, as in thousands of $, always check the 1m mark on the exchange, as things can go south pretty quickly.
4. A spike doesn't always happen when you buy low. Some spikes follow small dips that follow other spikes. You need to look at the 24h change % (seeing it rise quickly means the price will rise along with it, in real time), and if you match that up with a candle over candle min by min progress, then odds are you should jump in.
5. As soon as you purchase, enter your whole amount in the SELL section and either keep your mouse coursor on the button or set a sell limit. Sometimes i prefer to wing it and do it myself, because volatile coins (which provide the highest and fastest spikes and also dips) can shift trend in a matter of seconds, and by the time you're done entering all those numbers like 0,000XXXX for STOP and another 0,000YYYY for Limit and then your whole amount, while keeping one eye on the prize, everything can already be going downwards. I find that it can take me as much as 10-15 seconds to set a limit, and in 15 seconds you can lose everything you've put in.
6. At the same time, don't panic too much if you see a red candle on a coin that's clearly moving upwards in terms of 24h change %. If this minute it's at 20% and the next at 25% and you suddenly have a big red candle next to all the green ones that have gathered - keep at it, it will probably (as in likely) keep going up.
7. Luck is also a factor, but to truly be successful you unfortunately need to dedicate a lot of time to it, as in a full work day of doing nothing but trading while eyeballing the screen like there's no tomorrow.
8. Follow multiple high 24h change % coins at the same time, you NEVER know when one might start spiking and you'll be kicking yourself for waiting on one coing while the other goes up behind your back.
9. Be a sniper most of the time. Don't get greedy. I know it's super hard, but if you're playing with a lot of money, just take a small % win and walk away, don't wait for the drop. A few % points of a couple of grand is a great haul, even on a daily basis. Do the math.
10. Use an APP - don't rely on the websites themselves. I once lost $150 on a trade in a matter of seconds because my browser froze and it actually took me half a min to get it to power up again and log back in and so on. It happened on Binance. That was the night i downloaded their app for Windows.

Cheers mate!

Here's the official press release: https://presse.porsche.de/prod/presse_pag/PressResources.nsf/Content?ReadForm&languageversionid=833328

I think this is the type of news that tends to shut up crypto deniers. If the auto industry starts using blockchain tech, it's going to be huge. What do you guys think?

Are Forecasts like the one on WalletInvestor any good at actual predictions?

While I'd be very interested to know what their algorythm is for making these forecasts, at the same time they can't possibly hope to predict anything in the real sense. Thoughts?

I wait for reversal candles pattern on 1 hr timeframe: H&S or DoubleBottom or Triple Bottom or Dragon

And has it worked for you with cryptocurrencies? 1 hr timeframe seems very little.

These are my investments and how much I put in them. Looking to HODL until December 2018 or Jan/Feb 2019.

BTC ($500)
ETH ($500)
LTC ($500)
NEO ($500)
VEN ($500)
ICX ($500)
EOS ($500)
NEB ($500)
ENG ($500)
SUB ($200)
WABI ($200)
POE ($200)
LEND ($200)
DRGN ($200)
UTRUST ($200)

THOUGHTS???

 Smiley

Hi there. Odds are you're going to turn a profit as long as the market keeps growing and technologies keep developing. But as the old saying goes, you need to spend money to make money. Your budget for that portfolio is pretty identical to mine, and I happen to be a first-time investor so I might not be the most experienced member of this forum, however, logic dictates that while it's safer to spread your investment over multiple coins, having too many will definitely impede your profits.

For example, to reach $50k, you would need a lot of these coins to go to the moon while exceeding even the wildest of expectations. I also don't think you're playing to some of those coins potential strengths. ETH is a strong coin, $500's worth may not be enough. Even if ETH goes to $5,000 in the next few years, you'd only see around half of that. That's what I mean by playing to the coin's strength. I think that if you ditched some of your smaller coins (not all), and get maybe 1 or even 2 ETH, that would greatly improve your chances at larger profits. Also maybe a little more money into LTC, NEO and EOS (not much, a couple extra hundred bucks) - just to give the strong coins as much fuel as possible  Smiley As for your smaller coins, they seem as promising as lots of others, but maybe spend more on those who are under $1? Since nobody really knows how these small yet promising coins will perform, and since you're taking a chance on them, might as well take the chance and buy thousands or tens of thousands of something rather than just in the double or triple digits.

So can you make $50,000? I sure hope so! But it's unlikely that all the stars will align perfectly so that it happens in just 1 year. Think 2-4 years instead.

How do you know when to jump in if coins are in the RED?
by
zanetti_ro
on 24/02/2018, 13:10:45 UTC
As I'm sure everybody here knows, the market has been in the red for the past several days, and while this isn't necessarily good news for those of us who have already invested at bigger prices, others who are waiting for the right moment would surely appreciate some knowledge as to when is the right time to buy in during, or perhaps after a dip.

So this question goes out to any and all experienced traders and investors out there. Let's say you're waiting out this dip and trying to buy at a low a price as possible - how can you possibly anticipate what that will be? And what do you consider a bounce-back? Green for 24 hrs, 48 hrs? Is there a sweet spot?

Cheers!

Invest in Bitcoin now or wait for another dip?
by
zanetti_ro
on 20/02/2018, 19:18:08 UTC
Currently, Bitcoin is valued at $11,826 and rising. Is this a good time to buy small chunks of Bitcoin, such as 0.1 or 0.2 BTC? On one hand, people buying now are buying very high. But what if it doesn't dip again to under $10,000 this year and just keeps going up?

Re: First time investor, $6k buget, did I choose the right coins?

Thanks a bunch for the initial feedback guys! Both PRL and ETHMeta have peaked my interest:) i am considering dropping something. Maybe dash or monero..i am kind of putting all my eggs in very few baskets by investing in just one unit of these coins - im basically hoping they will increase in value by x10 or more.

I don't think i'll drop ETH, its probably the safest bet to at least double in value over the next 16 months. I base that on absolutely nothing  Grin but its a very strong coin.

First time investor, $6k buget, did I choose the right coins?

First of all I want to say that browsing through this forum has been extremely helpful for me - somebody who knew next to nothing about cryptocurrencies before a few weeks ago. So many of you have been extremely insightful and I've tried to take in as much as I could! Also, rest assured that I've not chosen to invest my money based on where anyone else told me I should invest. The question I'm asking here is more or less strategic in nature, since there obviously aren't any guarantees in this sector.

So here it is, a bit over $6000 in savings, for the following coins:
2x Ethereum
1000x Cardano
3 x Litecoin
1 x Dash
1 x Monero
500 x Ripple
4 x NEO
100000 x Telcoin
100 x PIVX

My goal/expectation, aside from not losing all my money, is to triple my initial investment over the long term 2-4 years. What do you guys think, realistic? I tried to mix in some high ranked coins with a couple of well-regarded promising ones.

You're totally right! I dropped the ball on Monero. It should definitely be up there, as should NEO from what I've been reading in the past hour.

Which of the following Altcoins would be in your TOP 10?
by

Hi everybody,

I think it would cool to get a Top 10 list going, where everybody can chime in about how they see the market growing (or dropping) when it comes to their altcoin investments or potential investments. Rather than compare coin x to coin y, let's stirr the pot a bit, since

Initial shortlist (no particular order...mostly): Ethereum, Ripple, Litecoin, Cardano, Stellar, Ethereum Classic, Iconomi, Verge, Dash, Zcash, PIVX, Bytecoin, Steem, IOTA, NEM, Telcoin, ETHLend, TRON, Digibyte, ReddCoin, Dogecoin, Burst, Experience Points, Substratum, Siacoin.

My Top 10, as far as long term investment is concerned:

1. Ethereum
2. Litecoin
3. Ripple
4. Cardano
5. Steem
6. NEM
7. Telcoin
8. Stellar
9. Ethereum Classic
10. PIVX

Honorable mentions: Dash, Verge, Iconomi, Digibyte

Let's keep it going!  Cheesy
