What does it mean "Focus on decentralized inference consensus, not training". How can you guarantee to reach an inference consensus?

The project is solving an AI algorithms consistency issue on inference. Different hardware would generate different result. The Cortex Virtual Machine is introduced to make this happen. The training process is systematic computation, not like hash functions, so it is not proper to be used as PoW.

Interesting project. The whitepaper seems quite impressive, as is the list of advisors.
Will you be running an ICO for this project?

Yes, we do, but only open for qualified investors, most of them are institutional investors.

Project website: www.cortexlabs.ai

White Paper: Please refer to official website

Brief introduction:

Cortex is a decentralized AI autonomous system. The blockchain wants to make AI consensus available for contracts. Traditional EVM is not able to run a smart contract on full node with complex inference computation, since the computational load is too heavy on CPU for a full node. The Cortex VM enables those inference instructions running on GPU / FPGA. The model conversion between different framework, like TensorFlow or MXNet, would be done by the team. The fee for a contract using those inference instruction set is going to be designed for GPU / FPGA. The team will also provide a basic model zoo with world class quality.

The project is founded by a group of hardcore veteran in blockchain field. The technical stack and knowledge reside in blockchain and machine learning, both the team members and advisor groups are top tier in the industry. They rethink and redefine the question that what would be a strong endorsement for a currency, meanwhile, the real "intelligent" smart contracts will be implemented.

The technical highlights are:

1. Mining coins based on Cuckoo Cycle or dynamically adjusted by a set of hash functions.
2. Focus on decentralized inference consensus, not training.
3. Redesign virtual machine to add computational cost for model inference.
4. Already have some experiments for full node inference performance test, included in white paper.
5. Provide hardware solutions for full node contract verifications.
6. Model conversion / exchange tool - the model representation tool in the white paper.

The team has first hand experience in mining pool, smart contract, miner software and top tier machine learning competition records, their project is also contribute into MXNet awesome project.
Papers published on SIGGRAPH,ACM Transactions on Graphics
The Winner of 2017 Dorahack Hacker Marathon (Hyperledger ABS System)
MXNet Contributor
Kaggle Data Science Bowl 2017 Leaderboard No.1
AI Challenger Scene Classification Top 2%
Carvana Image Masking Challenge Top 3%

Use cases:

Autonomous AI self-governed system.
M2M economy for AI computation senario - like finding targeting faces / performing certain jobs to get rewards.
The state of the art model zoo on blockchain.

The project is only open to qualified private investors, the only communication channel for the sale is help@cortexlabs.ai

For the past 10 days, 1 day pool luck 50%, all 9 days exceeds 150%

Pool Link:

https://waterhole.io/pool/zec

History of block mined:

https://waterhole.io/pool/zec/blocks

Pool hash rate history for past 10 days:
https://waterhole.io/pool/zec/stats8
(bottom figure choose all)

We setup the pool and have a few of friends gradually adding hash power for testing in the past 10 days. They are very happy with the payout. Daily UTC 04:00 AM PPLNS per pay round. Will switch to PPS or HBPPS once hash rate get higher later.

Technical features: Completely rewrite pool using Java for large scale mining connections. Improved backend stability and concurrency. Optimizations for better pool efficiency.

Welcome to give us a try and introductory pool fee is 0% until 12/31/2016 and 1% after.

Give a try for couple of days and see your returns boost!

This is just another tactics to promote their apps just to install the app and put some your verification and they will earn just like an affiliate market they are giving fake details so that someone can install the app and they will earn.. this is the same as scam.. we dont know if the apps is clean or not..

Hi crairezx20, you can try with a google voice number / VOIP and deny any access for album, microphone, whatever on your iPhone, to have anonymous signup for the faucet. Nothing will be verified. Smooth as you signup with any website-based faucet.

There are already lots of users from localbitcoins, especially traders from the Pro-Trader facebook group. Codes are very clean, no phishing there. I hope people could give a try.  Smiley

Guys, I am the CEO of waterhole.io Ziqi Chen. I am glad to be here to hear something.  Smiley Let me answer some questions you raised.

The product is a competing service with OTC marketplace and we actually announced in July 21st, 2016. Here is the brief introduction for us:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1559548.0

Basically Jason (COO) and me, both are veterans in the BTC world back to 2013, and have seen many scams - exchanges hacking / run away your investments. I personally had transactions with reputable people here in bitcointalk. Our product is designed to prevent hacking and scams, meanwhile to keep your privacy level as high as possible. The product is made to meet the industry requirements for not only virtual currency guys like you and us but also general public. We try to offer a wallet can do realtime OTC trading and having or exceeds the powerful features as your traditional bank APP.

I didn't know cointelegraph will pay whoever bid highest for marketing, at least we did not bid on anything. No media company, including coindesk and btcnews will be able to ensure the business they write/publish about. So I will focus on trustworthy from ourselves. The 1 mBTC free faucet is legitimate, as the OP said. We offer a 3 mBTC red packet, so that you will try your luck with other new users. There is nothing scam/tricks, all you need to do is using your mobile phone to install and register the app. (You can use virtual number if you want, like Google voice or other VOIP)

Thanks for ucjobs posting your experience with our app, there are also hundreds of users already got the free bits. We will continue to serve the virtual currency community better in future! We are still in early start stage, any criticize / advice will be extremely helpful for us, don't hesitate to throw your questions to me! Wink

Avalon batch 2 connect to PC/Linux guide.

System requirement: Ubuntu 12.04 or Debian 6.0+

Hardware prerequisite:
1. Remove jumper P5 or J1, the one next to USB-B.
2. Unplug the use cable connecting to the TP-Link, and plug it into your linux box.

Hardware optional mod:
1. Replace the stock power supply to OCZ 1250W.
2. Get a USB printer cable like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Hi-Speed-USB-Cable-Feet/dp/B00004Z5M1
to replace the cable connecting from FPGA controller card to the TP-Link card.
We will still use USB-B port.
3. Completely remove the TP-Link, including the wire antenna connected to the box for WIFI. Make the USB long cable pass through the ethernet port, which previously occupied by TP-LINK. The USB end should be out of the box, later on connect to your linux box.

4. Apply arctic-mx4 10g to the heat sink of each blade and mount them back. Move the position of the blade like the pictures above.

5. Buy http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835213001
I installed 2 of them on the back of the case. They are loud. The picture above showing only one extra fan, the TP-LINK is not removed.
The delta 5200RPM make 240CFM, which almost double the intake of the front fan from stock case, so 2 fans can absolutely absorb the intake air, even not in full speed, If you want to add a fan controller, buy a 30w per channel controller. I brought: http://www.amazon.com/NZXT-Sentry-Performance-Controller-Black/dp/B001E0JH5E
for the Mix-2 version.

Please note: the delta fan is super loud, you really should move the case into the data center or server room. Although the avalon wiki suggested not to mount back fans, I still see the big difference by doing so, the temperature of using delta fans will reduce 10C+ from my experiment.

When you mount the two delta fans, make sure the wire coming from the fan’s corner should face to upside so that they are easier to manage as long as you open the case. MAKE SURE no wire will be pushed into the two fans. Use sticker to fix all wires’ positions.

Then connect the fans to molex or fan controller, the splitted one pin port is useless if you do not use the controller. You can place your fan controller outside the box by passing through cable from one of the bolts for the case. I just put it inside next to the metal sheet.

Software to run:

sudo apt-get install libcurl4-openssl-dev libncurses5-dev pkg-config libtool libusb-1.0-0-dev libusb-1.0-0 libudev0 libudev-dev build-essential autoconf

wget https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer/archive/master.zip

unzip master.zip

cd cgminer-master/

sudo ./autogen.sh

sudo ./configure --disable-opencl --enable-avalon
sudo make
sudo make install

sudo cgminer --avalon-options 115200:32:10:36:350 --avalon-fan 90-100  -o stratum+tcp://stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 -u yourworkername -p yourpassword.

Base on the avalon wiki, I should have use 115200:24 instead of 115200:32, but I found the computations are disregarded if I use 24. The 32 setup works perfectly, even though I only have 3 blades unit.

Conclusion:

My unit is stable at 84-85g/s and temperature is 22/34/35 in an ambient 21C data center. The hardware error rate is around 2%. I used tp-link for a while but it keeps stopping for certain elapsing time, the restarting issue keep me from maximizing my ROI. To my observation from slush pool, my 10 round average only got 60-70G. If you have similar issue, I can confirm that once you connect to PC/Linux, you will never see that again. Now the 10 round average are extremely stable at 82-85g/s. I also tried to set to 375M/s which should be 88G. For 24hr+ running, I did not see ANY issue with the modified cooling system. However, I am still setting it at 350M/s to make my unit safer Smiley

Donations are welcome Smiley
