Is the fact that the BTC market was unregulated equaling that the exchange owner can just do anything?
I guess many people buying bitcoins at MtGox were - rightly or wrongly - assuming that standard exchange practices were followed. Shouldn't now standard exchange principles apply?
The fact that bitcoin is unregulated does not automatically mean that an owner can just ignore standard existing practices of exchanges (and that's what it is).
Does someone have some standard knowledge of how normal exchanges would need to treat the issue that happend today on bitcoins?
Including placing bid / asks order again where they were or not?
You tell us, you're the expert on this kinda stuff right?
I feel this is gonna seriously jack up the willingness to accept bitcoin now.

Re: {SELLING} TWO XFX 5970 BLACK EDITIONS {SELLING}
Oh god! Now you've made this thread the price of btc is crashing faster than the world trade center did after the government blew it up in their false flag operation to invade iraq!! fuck!!
Firstly, you're crazy, secondly, it's hopped back up to 17.36. I made a nice buy at the low point and sold just now, nice instant cash.
It has nothing to do with economics. Huge spreads happen with low volume. The more volume the market has, the tighter the spread.
Volume looks high to me.
I don't trust Mt.Gox's volume, pricing, market depth, or any other data as far as I can throw it... and I can't throw it anywhere.
I like the way you put it hahahahaha

Could someone in layman's terms explain how it works and how money is paid out and such? How do you know you won't get burned? How do you start a company through it? The page is a bit uninformative.
I'm actually hoping for a downturn now, bitcoinwatch seems to say that shortterm the price will drop due to the price going below the 50h moving average.
I was only talking about the next 1 to 2 hours. The last bearish phase lasted a "whole day", so this rally up from $16 may still have an exciting top coming up soon tonight.
Note: "On Average" these statements about rallies having an exciting top are usually true, nothing is certain.
Currently the ticker reporting on Mt. Gox is broken, so for all we know, we could have missed the top.

All of those classes of products are available via Bitcoin.
Let's make this realistic.
I'd like to buy one of the new AM3+ Asus Sabertooth mainboards, along with a befitting black edition Phenom and 1833 CL7 RAM with at least 5 year warranty, preferably from the same merchant, shipped to Germany speedily at competitive prices.
Can Bitcoin do that right now? I doubt it. There are a few dealers who can fulfill my request, but none accepts BTC! I would have to use some middle man magic, and nobody feels like doing that.
That's the thing. It's like saying Android has a good security model -- it's all good in theory, but the reality is: there's still a lot to do.
All of those classes of products are available via Bitcoin.
From an actual website, or via OTC, I prefer ordering from websites, and I've found the price volatility and stock of items are too difficult to combat when buying these products.
