It's a ploy to think that your CPU is actually being used Roll Eyes

I am not a developer but I hope one of those who believe in this project who knows how to code can come out a wallet that will not show at least 7 virus and malwares,it's ok if the wallet shows one or two but seven is not a good  one,people will worry running that wallet.

There is an updated wallet, it is not showing 7, it is showing 4, none of them trojans or viruses:

so you have viruses there?

No, I don't believe so. Most of the reports are for miners/unwanted programs/generic/heuristics/riskware.

I created a new build environment under Linux (Mingw, QT 5.7, SSL 1.01h, -Os flag). The previous version was built under Windows (Mingw, QT 5.3, SSL 1.01h, older boost, -O2 flag).

Here's the new build (same source code):

https://github.com/zoin/zoin/releases/download/v0.8.7.4/zoin-0.8.7.4b-win.zip

Scan result:

4 detections (two for PUP and two for miners)

No viruses in this wallet. Online antivirus testing is quite untrue. Check out the disassembler and realize that there is no one there. Let's help the developer in raising currency. So if a developer to communicate?

My compile from source code and tested with virustotal showed only 2 issues, both of them are Bitcoin miners, which are understanable as it has a miner in QT client. I don't understand where come the 12 issues shown in the virustotal report from dev's build.

There are so many things that affect the binaries produced (compiler flags, version of linked libraries, etc). It all depends which part of the code the virus apps tries to identify.

Please feel free to share your binaries.

When I mint some zerocoins using the console in debug window, say mintzerocoin 100, the mint is successful, but in zerocoin tab I don't see the zerocoins I just mint. Is this a bug? I can spend it though, although I don't see it in the list...
after minting you need spendzerocoin any value

I know and I did spend, but my question is that after mint, I don't see it in the zerocoin tab in windows client. There was nothing there although I minted it successful and was able to spend it later.

I've noticed it doesn't always update the display. If you restarted the wallet after the mint, the display should have included it.

Guys, question. Is there any connection between zcoin and zoin?

It's just a fork of ZCoin

Its funny how this open-source thing works. Smiley. Someone spent many months (if not years) developing something, then he publishes it as open-source, and in 1-5 days it is being copied and exploited, often without giving any credit to the original. I know open-source is good, but sometimes it is getting ridiculous. I am coming from closed-source business world myself, and though I like open-source, but sometimes I think there should be limits on that (maybe a grace period of few months/years before the source is opened).

Do you guys think those clones are harming the original or are good for it...? In a perfect world they should help (by working in parallel and finding and fixing issues), but in reality I am not sure...

I don't want to get involved in this thread, but you'll find quite the opposite.

ZCoin does not give credit to the Zerocoin developers (see Copyright statements in Github and GUI):

https://github.com/zcoinofficial/zcoin/blob/master/README.md

90% of the work done in ZCoin for Zerocoin was from the Zerocoin library:

https://github.com/Zerocoin/libzerocoin

Zoin on the other hand, gives full credit to ZCoin (for their contribution) and ZeroCoin in the Copyright statements and GUI:

https://github.com/zoin/zoin/blob/master/README.md

ZOIN, please can you release a roadmap! there has to be a certain stability and prospect. Great such a new coin but the way it is launched is terrible.

Sorry, but there will be no roadmap from my side. No broken promises, no hype, no pumping release dates, no founder's reward, no big investors.

Since this is a community coin, you are free to do these things. If you don't like the web site, help build a new one, if you don't like the PR, help organise some.

Hi, are you still working on the new algo? Where can I find more info about such algo?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

We are not planning a change in algo at the moment. When we launched we changed algo from ZCoin. Maybe you are thinking of ZCoin's new new algo.

Actually quite a few bugs have been fixed from the original ZCoin code, including more in the upcoming release.

The GIT repository history is not telling the same. The only more or less considerably sized commit was done 16 minutes ago. The rest were one-liners, related only to founders reward and version bump.
If you indeed made some bug fixes in the original commit, then why didn't you fork your repository from the original ZCoin one, so people could see the difference (if any). Creating an independent repository instead of cloning the original project is a bad practice, mostly aimed at hiding something.

There were quite a few changes in the initial commit. You can compare the initial commit with ZCoin.

How do I mint zerocoin? When I click on the "mint zerocoin" button, it minted one ZOIN at a time. I read that it can do 1, 5, 10, 25, 100, can someone tell me how I can make that choice, i.e. mint 100 zerocoin at a time?

Get some ACTUAL ZCOIN (not zoin, there's a 'c' in there) and come over to the thread for the original coin, not this P&D copycat: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1638450.1780

You have your own version of the coin,why promoting it here leave this thread it is Zoincoin thread,it's up to the traders and investors on who is a better coin between the two..

ZCOIN is not just "other version of the coin", its the original one.

ZCOIN developers created the tech (the implementation), spent many months on coding, and they are the ones who know that code.

Zoin is just copy-pasted by some greedy people, who are not even able to maintain the code. The most they can do, is to wait for real Zcoin devs to release they code, so they can copy it to their "zoin"  Grin
Their only capability is to take profit of other people's work, and also make a P&D to take some money out of your pocket. Those clone generators are ridiculous, and worthless.

And take note - I am not just spreading FUD to get buy orders filled. I do not own zoin, and do not want to. I am just really pissed off by those worthless copy-paste clones, and by people supporting them.

Hard fork activated at block 5000. Founders reward is now dropped to zero.

If you are still on 0.8.7.1, please upgrade to remain on the correct chain.

Also dev what's the difference between lyra2 and lyra2-zoin? why create a different flavor? When I check the Lyra2 code, I don't see any differences though.

The Lyra algorithm is the same, it just uses different parameters. Originally ZCoin had unsustainable parameters for Lyra, as explained here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1671060.msg16863305#msg16863305

If ZCoin didn't change the algo, it would have needed more and more memory and got slower and slower until most machines would not be able to do the hash.

Zoin had to change the original ZCoin algo for this reason.

It's nice that Zoin improved ZCoin. Why do we use Lyra2 here at all? Any adavantages? Would it be the same to use scrypt or X11 etc as PoW while still keeping the zerocoin features?

The algo could be changed yes. Lyra was kept because it is heavy on memory usage, which favours CPU mining and this could make GPU implementation inefficient. Previous versions of hash algos based on lyra2 used parameters that were too small to give problems for GPU. And ZCoins version was/is too extreme. We'll see what the outcome is, but if we decide to change the algo, it could be implemented as a hard fork.

The title of the thread is misleading. It should read "No more Founder's reward starting from block 5001".

Dev what are those bounties about?

Unfortunately the whole history of the coin doesn't fit in the subject line, but I changed it to "st.bl.5000", that's all I could fit in.

A bounty is a a kind of reward you give to people for contributing to the cause. I gave a small bounty for listing on an exchange and promised another for help with the web site. The other ~1 BTC costs have all come out of my pocket BTW.

Dev care to explain how algo diff was fixed?
What it did, why it did it?
What has changed, how it affects?

LYRA2(BEGIN(thash), 32, BEGIN(pblock->nVersion), 80, BEGIN(pblock->nVersion), 80, 2, 32768, 256);
-->
if (LYRA2(BEGIN(thash), 32, BEGIN(nVersion), 80, BEGIN(nVersion), 80, 2, 330, 256) < 0)
thash = 0;

No one wants to mine eyes closed!

The original ZCoin had

LYRA2(BEGIN(thash), 32, BEGIN(pblock->nVersion), 80, BEGIN(pblock->nVersion), 80, 2, HEIGHT, 256);

This would have caused the network to grind to a halt as height increased.

After some experimentation I changed this to:

if (LYRA2(BEGIN(thash), 32, BEGIN(nVersion), 80, BEGIN(nVersion), 80, 2, 330, 256) < 0)

I believe ZCoin's new parameter of 32768 is still too extreme. It requires almost a gigabyte of RAM to compute and takes in the order of a second to compute. Hashes verification is supposed to be fast.

Nice one!  "No more founder's reward"
Or is there?

ZaKoV4coXyHd5z6RS28cxGim1KsmFewr7Z
Received   20,030.0 ZOI   in 4006 transactions
Sent   1,005.0 ZOI   in 1 transactions

Someone is using founder address!

The original founders reward was 20% of the first 105,000 blocks. After consideration this was changed to stops early at block 5000.

The amount sent from the founder's reward was for a bounty. There is also a couple of other small promised bounties that will be paid from this address.

The remaining founder's reward will be used for bounties and/or burned.

He is explaining this because he was caught,but there was no mention this on the announcement,if he is transparent and honest,he will have told us in the first place.

Honesty is still the best policy.

If you followed to thread you would see this has been totally transparent.
