My friend had those boards for the better part of 5 to 6 month now, those are nothing new.  I guess it is just something they toss out of the door after they used up all its mining value

It's just plain stupid to ask for "bonus" when you found a block when you are mining at a pool that dedicates on paying everyone exactly the same per each share they do...

Are you willing to accept LESS when you don't find a block, so that the pool can fund the bonus paid to the one that found the block?  Hummm? Don't think so...

Just go mine on your own and see if you will ever find a block.

Personally tho, I might be leaving the bitcoin mining scene soon, due to the rather crazy increase in difficulity, perhaps Scrypt rigs might be a better idea, tho it takes a long time for them to pay off..

Scrypt mining is starting to tank... value of the garbage coins keeps decreasing for some reason.

M

Yeah, but at least I don't get wiped out in about 3 month like bitcoin tho...  Most rigs go from definite payout to dubious payout due to the hash rate arms race...

I have the same Dell power supply as in the photo, and I run it at low fan speed with two overclocked S1.  Which will work, but will cause the power supply to overheat and trip thermal shutdown.  If you can bear the jet like noise, the power supply should be able to cope with to S1 even overclocked.  Since these power supply seems to be built with top quality parts. (they ARE server grade power afterall)

If you do not overclock, I think it should work fine with the power supply fan staying in low speed mode.  I just went ahead and got myself a larger power supply, and have the fan run in quiet mode, as not to drive me and my family nuts.. Tongue

When manufacturing, they have everything streamlined so that they use the least amount of labor/power/time to put it together.  Swapping chip, if upgrading from say Avalon 1 to Avalon 2, it might not be too bad.  If you are trying to stick chip from a different maker, then it would be massive amount of work.

It would be just like sticking a V8 in a prius as HellDriverUK said, and it might end up costing more than a Lexus in terms of work time and other costs...

Sell it and buy something new would be a better and cheaper way to go.

Darn it, the trolls are wrong again...

Wouldn't it be kinda funny in a way that things did go wrong, and wizkid posted a pic and say "goodbye suckers" shortly afterwards...  Not that it would be good for anyone, but still kinda funny.  Grin

Thats good ...but why my last payout from Eligius stays Immature Huh

Because you're paid directly from the mined coins (most secure, as pool doesn't get to touch your coins) and mined coins take 120 confirmations before they can be spent (immature).  This is normal.

I really like Eligius pool for going out of your way to make sure that everything is as straight as it gets. Smiley

Thanks!

Now I've just received my second antminer S1, and I'm going to point that at Eligius now.  Hopefully I can sort out the antminer's weirdness and have it mine at full speed.

Funny that one bad fan on the antminer is causing the mining chips to crash.  It looks like the chip didn't even have a chance to heat up, it looks like the fan got stuck, and draws too much power to try to overcome the bad bearing, then the mining chips crash.

Weird...

I put both of them in line, with the good one helping to move some air, and all is well again.  For now...  I guess I better get something to replace the bad fan... Tongue

I started to mine on Eligius about 10 hours before the system went into failsafe...

I choose Eligius because I rather like the payout scheme and the overall system design.  Also... because the brand new Antminer S1 I got does NOT talk to slush's pool nor BTCGuild, so I had to actually find another pool.  That's when I came upon Eligius.

And then of course the DoS mess that started not too long ago, I figured it is something that will be resolved, and continue on.  Well it is... Wink

Now I've just received my second antminer S1, and I'm going to point that at Eligius now.  Hopefully I can sort out the antminer's weirdness and have it mine at full speed.
