Re: What do you mean when you say Bitcoin is number 1

For me, decentralization, usability, good developers and a solid user base are what makes Bitcoin to be the number 1.
At this point, the marketcap is not a good metric to compare Bitcoin's performance to other cryptos, since it can be easily inflated. Maybe we need to find out new metrics to make such comparisons.

In many countries, buying Bitcoin already is a taxable event, but that never was enough reason for people to stop buying it.

Re: Can Bitcoin Hit $15,000 before year end

Recently we witnessed another all time high in the price of BTC where value was above the $11,000 mark before a drop to around $9,200, Should we expect another ATH around $15,000 before the year runs out?
Well, it's at $13,000 right now, a few days after you asked it. I think it go to 15k before the year ends, but I can't see it happening before a major correction.

It might be a good idea to mine Bitcoin Gold if you intend to hold your coins. AFAIK, they're also using equihash, so it can be really good for GPUs.

Future of Bitcoin Economics depends on mass adoption of Bitcoin. No body can predict accurately the true future of Bitcoin.
Still much more predictable than the future of fiat currency, which doesn't look good, BTW.

At least with Bitcoin you know how many coins will ever exist, whereas in the case of fiat, governments can print money at any time.

Only the top five cryptocurrencies have a decent trading volume for you to consider start trading. The other ones might give you some profit, but if you are willing to trade large amounts, it's not worth it, because of the low liquidity.

Most of the altcoins in the top 20 marketcap are very scammy, so I think it's all about marketing... in the short term. In the long term, only the cryptocurrencies with real innovation will survive.

I wish it could accomplish what it proposes, but I don't think PoS will help Ethereum in the long run, most coins using proof-of-stake had a very poor long-term performance.

Re: What to do when the value of your coins starts going up dramtically?
by

It is good to see the value of your cryptos going up, but be aware that as the price goes up, so does the number of people taking profit, and if you take a long time to sell, the profit can be much lower. At worst you can even go out with a loss.
The right thing to do is to define in advance what your upper limit is, where you are going to take your profits. If you do this in advance you will be less likely to act emotionally when your crypto is reaching high values.

Re: Alts fall, Bitcoin falls ... where is the money going?

Since the total market cap has fallen a lot lately, it's to be assumed that some of that money is going back to fiat.

It was said that sometimes markets are irrational, but now I see that in crypto such a level of irrationality reaches new levels.

I also think we're going too fast. I would have preferred to see Bitcoin staying for some more time in the $ 1700-1750 range before another great surge. But it's not the end of the world, let's see what happens.

The problem is not how much money you put into it, but where you put that money. I would not even consider it an investment, unless you're referring to casino bankroll.

Obviously not as popular as fiat currency, but I would say Bitcoin is much more efficient, and such efficiency will result in an increasingly growing user base.

Most of the Bitcoin long term holders I've seen so far have not been disappointed by the currency. I think that seeing your holdings going up in value should be something good, but something even better is the possibility of having total control over your own money, without having to depend on third parties.

In addition to the possibility of profit, I think that another great advantage lies in the possibility of having a decentralized way of storing value, which also brings the possibility of making payments around the globe through the internet, something that is not possible with other ways of storing value, such as gold.

In gambling, we will never know when is the best time to stop. So I think the best thing to do is set limits on money you put into it in each session, and do not repeat multiple sessions in short periods of time, of course.

I think so. Even if I was a trader, I would not see big problems in this, because when Bitcoin reaches great stability, the price still have variations, just as with fiat currencies.

Re: What will the price of Dogecoin be by the year 2020?
by

Dogecoin is managing to maintain a position in the market that many currencies have not been able to maintain for long. Part of this is probably due to the active community, and Dogecoin's popularity.

True that ~V~
When I first started with cryto-currencies the only coins I knew about or heard anything about was bitcoin and dogecoin. It was only when I started to research these two coins that I started to find out more about other altcoins that exist. I agree that there is an active community around dogecoin and I don't think these guys would sit back and see something they admire just die out. In my honest opinion I don't think this will happen anytime soon. Thanks for your feedback ~V~
You're welcome. These two cryptocurrencies, along with Litecoin, are the first to be presented to most users entering the cryptocurrency space. Almost every exchange has listed Bitcoin, Dogecoin and Litecoin, so I think your experience is similar to that of many other users. Regards
