I have only gained good things from cryptocurrencies (they have changed my life for the better), however, I am frustrated at those who are in for money, and only money. I agree with you, we need to change. But, we cannot completely blame those who are in for money, and only money, as you say.

I'm sure, the main interest the average person who comes to Bitcoin/cryptocurrency is because they hear the success story of someone (like you, maybe) who has gotten a better life because of Bitcoin/cryptocurrency.
