If you're deserving to be a Junior then you should have no issue in getting merit and that is what the entire system is there for in the first place. If you post crap then you will get nowhere and receive no merit but those who contribute and post something worthwhile will likely get the merit very quickly and rise through the ranks naturally over time and in line with activity. Alternatively, you can even bypass that by purchasing a Copper Membership which gives you the benefits of being a Member, but I'd just work on ranking up naturally by improving your contributions here.

So this is democracy in business. Write and talk on any topic. It is clear that not all write well and pleasant things.
And it turns out that someone pressed the button and what was free - now you have to pay money, although not great, but if you take into account millions of users, the amount turns out good.
