Ah, I understand that those who are not Indonesians will definitely not understand too much about this one thing (the chastity of women is highly guarded in our culture).
there seems to be a very different culture and thinking here.
and it's normal if you don't understand what @naira means.

The chastity of women (virgin) is very important in Indonesia (for the majority of Indonesians). because it concerns the honor and self-esteem of the women themselves for Indonesian citizens.
even if a woman in a village has lost her virginity as a result of having sex outside of marriage and her family finds out about it. then the woman will be considered a disgrace to her family. even the honor of the family and the woman will fall. Even everyone around him will start to disrespect him. and think the woman is a cheap/despicable woman.
in a worse case, there will be many playboy men who will start flirting with the woman. in fact I don't think the majority of men in my area would want to marry a woman who was no longer a virgin. unless the woman is indeed a widow or a woman whose husband has divorced her. because in my area everyone thinks that if a woman cannot maintain her virginity before marriage then that woman is truly untrustworthy and despicable. in our culture, the chastity of women can only be obtained by a man who has married the woman.

because we really respect women. we can't just randomly have sex with women we like who we haven't married yet. even if we like each other. We men must first show our seriousness in caring for and loving these women through a bond and sacred agreement called marriage.
it's new from a man's point of view.

and I once witnessed how a woman here went crazy (disturbed/had madness) just because a man had taken her chastity and didn't want to be responsible (didn't marry her). he became stressed and fell into a deep depression until he finally went crazy.
So that good Indonesian women will always maintain their honor/chastity/virginity until they finally get married.
that is the moral that has existed in our culture since ancient times. coupled with the presence of the Islamic religion in the archipelago, our culture is very compatible with the Islamic religion which also matches the teachings of our ancestors so that Islam is very easily accepted by our ancestors and Islam has become my religion and the majority of our religion.

so that even without laws made by the government. then we Indonesian citizens who still uphold the culture and morals that have been taught long ago will definitely apply the same rules as contained in the law that was just passed.

But I can't deny that today a younger generation is starting to emerge who prefer to adopt a culture from outside that talks about human rights and all freedoms in life. yet it is still in the minority here.

I really appreciate the responses from all my friends who are not from Indonesia who of course feel strange and may not agree with the new law in our country. But don't worry because this law is for our country and we can accept it well. because this law is in accordance with the culture that we protect and also in accordance with the religion that we profess.

and don't worry if you want to visit as a tourist. because we, Indonesia, are always friendly to tourists and have a high sense of tolerance.

notes ; Chastity here is not about the hymen. because the hymen can even be lost due to extreme sports and accidents. but it's a matter of keeping from having sex before marriage.

I wonder if this thinking is only for women? Women are disrespected if they have sex outside of marriage or premarital sex, so if men do such things, will they be humiliated by their families? I don't think it's fair if it's only for women.
