Your point is fair, though not necessarily as easy as laying blame on celebrities as those who like displaying. Still, in the 90s, the time when social media did not exist, stars were still targeted because their lives could be easily identified by paparazzi, concerts, or even magazine covers. The thing that has been enhanced by the social media is that their wealth and location can now easily be seen in a second. To ordinary individuals, imitating the same action will be much more risky since they lack the security detail or insurance famous people are up to.

I believe that the wise lesson is that you should keep monetary information confidential and avoid exposing yourself to avoidable risks.
