A large exchange has been implicated in the scam operation of the attack on the block chain by creating a modified wallet that orphaned blocks and deposited coins in their wallet as payback for a number of large TIPS holders leaving the exchange for another Chinese exchange. This is not a fact, just speculation mind you. The exchange in question refused to stop trading on the coin after they knew for a fact the block chain was under attack. in any event - there's a new block chain and nearly all pools have switched to the new block chain and the block explorer is being updated.

Bter is now listed in Nova Exchange and the group behind saving the coin is accepting donations to get the coin listed in Yobit.net
