I thought it would be safe to test the alert system tonight, but it looks as if a bug exists in this system. You will probably see many, many annoying popups. I realize that it has been a long time with this new wallet. But, in polishing up the revised Qt, I felt like I would do something that I wish other developers did: fix things before they add new things that don't work 100%. I'm tracking every bug great and small that I can find in this wallet, and fixing each of them. Each bug I find can take from a few minutes to about a week to fix, so it has required some time. Fixing bugs is vastly more time consuming than one might expect. Hopefully the user experience will be much more satisfying than if I added simply many bells and whistles that were not fully debugged.

Alert bug description for the curios

An alert can cancel any other alert but not itself or else it can't be broadcast. If it can't be broadcast, it can't cancel other alerts. This is a classic chicken-egg problem. I fixed it so the last alert remains active so that it can cancel other alerts, but the gui is not notified if an alert effectively "cancels" itself. I'm surprised this has not been fixed in the StealthCoin lineage, but I believe that is because few coin developers actually use the alert system.
