I'm not sure what's wrong with your daemon, Try QT-Wallet it might work. Website is working fine(I just opened it) and BRIT is still listed on Bittrex exchange so it's a good sign the coin is still alive lol..

Tried website - yes seems to be working fine now - may have been a problem at my end.
