Ah, that was the problem -- Westhash is for pools on this (U.S.) side of the pond :-) I switched to nicehash.com and slush seems to be working much better!

No bot, yet. I'm still in training ... :-)

Ahh darn it. I spoke too soon. The nicehash order was auto-canceled too, after about a half an hour, saying "Action" Cancelled - placeholder order" with a link to their FAQ:
