I mean thats likely if you think about that bitcoins are interesting for the organized crime. If they came to that point and found out that there is a chinese company that is very rich and has no protection at all... then its not far fetched to take the possibility that he was taken by force. I mean nowadays a bank robbery will give you some measly K USD, though friedcat was a million USD target with no protection. If you think about it then its a wonder that something like that didnt happen before. 

Though i really would like to know the truth. Organized crime could have gone in way before too.
