I have been busy on another project and didn't want to pay the samples before I had time to use them.

The clear disregard to customers/potential email might be a sign in any case. Will follow up again and probably just forget them. We obtained samples from SP-Tech but would have loved to look and Sfards chips considering they were providing a complete dev kit.

Somehow the following sentence in your email helps companies pay attention: I want to buy lots and lots of stuff from you. Trust me, with zeus it got me a reply within the hour (while 3 other mails for weeks went unanswered).

Haha ok. They want to hear the words of a high roller from the beginning. Not very smart of the sales team considering that individuals might just be interesting in evaluating the chips before showing their hand.
