I tried the 2nd link and was getting errors about src/json/json_spirit_writer_template.h:31:50 warning: typedef 'Char_type' locally defined but not used [-Wunused-local-typedefs]

That's just a warning, ignore it

I'll have to look into that more tomorrow...

EDIT: That's what I got from the first link. I'll try the 2nd one tomorrow. I added Jessie to source.list and installed all of the dependencies. Then ran qmake and make.
