now I've got the all in one just functioning as the modem (it's networking is bridged) and I've got a router that does the actual routing job, along with a number of multi-port switches throughout my house.
We have a lot of the same expirences it sounds like with all in ones. I had to put in a special request to get bridged mode when I had a all in one. It was just a horrible router. But got a special firmware from my ISP techs and got into bridged mode. After I used much better routers.
And then recently they put in a new line of fiber, and did not even offer the all in one. So made it very easy transition. They gave me a straight modem, love the speed now.
