Development takes time and effort and cooperation, so short-term 'ROI'-seekers are not particularly helpful to the process.

As you say short term ROI seekers are not helpful, neither are you as you not helping the so good developments which you are talking about by pointing people to them. This puts you in the corner of being a full body FUD spreader.
