Currently the Maidsafecoin is held on the Bitcoin blockchain so if you have control over the private key you have control over your Maid, this will change when the Safe network goes live and you'll need to convert your Maidsafe coin to Safecoin (1:1).

Currently you can use a web wallet - Omniwallet.org and import your private key to manage your coins,
or you can use Omni Core client but you will need the 60GB blockchain downloaded since it's using the Bitcoin blockchain.
