(Also if the Wallet is not encrypted, it can try to stake and slow down the syncing process.)

FYI:
ZEIT is adding ~1 gig to the blockchain per year, which is sustainable
In comparison Ethereum is adding ~1 gig to their blockchain Every Month.

I guess it is down to the settings. I run ZEIT wallet on VM, Win7, 4GB RAM with 2 cores and 32GB of free disk space. Should be more than enough to keep the syncing speed at the acceptable level.
But my point was to flag this issue as a point to discussion at some time from here. We may want to discuss block time and introduction of fixed hard-coded check point to make the issue of installing new wallet easier and thus attract new users.
