Somebody apparently had a question about how I sleep at night:

Rassah would have you believe that the Bitcoin 100 is purely philanthropic and is extremely proud of mentioning that they've donated a whopping 4K to charities since they started over a year ago. They have almost double that amount that Rassah would rather refund to the donators than give to charities that have proven themselves unworthy by refusing to accept bitcoin donations. I honestly don't know how these people sleep at night.

First of all, they haven't "proven themselves unworthy," they simply have no means to accept it. I can't e-mail bitcoins, or send them by post. The charity actually has to have some way to receive it for us to be able to send it. And second, the answer as to why I would rather return the money, and how I can sleep with myself afterwards, is easy: IT'S NOT MY MONEY, AND IT'S NOT UP TO ME HOW I USE OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY. Nice to know there are other people out there who, when trusted with someone else's money, would just take it and use it for whatever the hell they feel like, thinking it's ok as long as it's for charity or their own personal cause. Frankly, that sounds a lot like government with taxes and social programs, so I could see why they would think it's ok. Sorry, I have a bit more integrity than that.

To be fair, I believe Rassah's statement about returning the money was due to the project seeming static, whereupon that blame was on me at the time. As for the other aspects, Rassah handled it fine.

Bitpay has still not processed the withdrawl for MyRefugeHouse, and I don't think the director will promote it until they come through.  I know bitpay has been busy, and they are looking to hire more people, but it would be nice if they could speed this up a bit.

The director is very happy since I pointed out to her that the bitpay balance is still in bitcoins, and that the value is almost $20 now.

Just received another PM, Seth, from Steve.

...if they want the 50 BTC converted, I need an email from them and to confirm it with the email we have on the account.

Please let us know if the previous BTC50 has hit their bank account. Please PM or call me if another issue arises.

Now go get us another NPO, tiger!  Grin

The accountant just told her that $492 was deposited last week, and there is still 50btc in the bitpay account.  So I guess everything is getting sorted out.  She thought it was an automated conversion and deposit.

Steve assured me yesterday that it's been processed, but do keep me abreast if it's delayed much longer.

I believe 2013 will be a great year for Bitcoin100 and Bitcoin in general. I think it's natural that this project slowed down a bit during the Christmas / New Year period. I just came back home from a two week vacation, didn't use much Internet when I was abroad. I now have more time to help with this project, if required.

Darn tootin!

Already making arrangements to have Bitcoin 100 self-supportive, not having to rely upon outside funding.
