I don't think he means converting Bitcoin into fiat and then spending it. He means just using Bitcoin to buy things. That is a whole new question.

Well, right now selling is not the right decision because of the ongoing price increase but in reality for the person who depends on bitcoin and doesn't have direct using availability its better to convert to fiat and use it.
