A candidate or competitor by definition actually exist and are usually darkened on purpose. You cannot have a darkhorse which hasn't been born yet. That was my point. Does vaporware exist even though the ICO is underway, e.g. WAVES, Ethereum, etc.. when they were launched.

Darkened on purpose is usually to do a deceptive manipulation, such as an instamine, stealthmine, etc..
