you can't do signature address with your address, so how you can proof it?
better to using mycellium, or maybe paper wallet is more easy to proof it.

He can still prove that he holds the address by broadcasting a transaction but yes I agree that he should stake an address where he can sign from.

So perhaps, next time (if you don't mind) sending an additional 0.0000nnnn (either to yourself, or this Wallet Address) which would be from a random list that'd be PM'ed to you similar to this:

Then for later on:

I could make it 100 random four digit numbers which you save as a text file, then later on if there's an issue I ask you for the eg 39th number from the list... I'd draw the random number via https://www.random.org/ (you wouldn't have to add it to a transaction, just be able to say what it is...)
