It is not easy as that, because if a person is really addictive in gambling and he is already out of control or out of his mind, having other hobby is not enough for him to stay away in gambling. I think it is better if he will have a vacation with family far away from casinos or no internet connection I think he can overcome of his addiction.

you need to have something better to do outside ,
i mean if you gamble online usually people just sit in front of a monitor right?
just move your ass and go socializing with other people around you ,
make a friend go hangout and enjoy your life.

Real productive activity can help you in quitting gambling, sometimes when we are too alone we tend to resort to gambling so it is good to make yourself involve with your friends and family in your daily activities, they are a great help your success to quit.

This would be a good thing to get involve on productive activities because your attention would be distracted on playing gambling and with the help of your family and friends you would definitely quit gambling and you must be willing for yourself on quitting gambling.
