If you have a lot of resources and have enough money to compensate your needs.. then selling your Bitcoins is not an really option. You should invest with your Bitcoins rather than selling. Just my thoughts. 
That's right, i have also same thinking, actually i have done, i hold my few bitcoins for a long time of period, and i have no mind to use them, even bitcoin might be reached on the top, but i want to prefer to safe them, may be after 10 years ago, i will sell them but it depend on price, Because main reason for safe the bitcoin its price. Many time whenever bitcoin price is increased, than i thought to sell them, but still one years ago, i hold them,
I think holding them for next 10 years can be risky as no one knows what price it will hold at that particular point so its good to sell them when you are making descent profits from it and buy it again when you see downfall in price.
Holding is not risky, if we get information everyday about bitcoins, than no problem to hold the bitcoin for a long time, Because i feel if we save our bitcoins and not use in anywhere and only wait when price increase than sell them, So it is good and easy way to use the bitcoin and make profit, this way holding is better instead of gambling or trading, it is less risk than gambling and trading.
If everyone will start thinking like you to never spend their coins then we will never see higher price of bitcoin in future and you should understand the fact that price will go only higher if people will spend it and use it like a normal currency.
