Duterte didn't mean he doesn't want to "be friends" with the USA anymore.
What he means is he wants to stop being too dependent, and being in these agreements that really only benefit the US
Yes,that is what he meant. An Independent Foreign Policy is good for us where we can decide where we can trade,purchase something we need in military etc.
Duterte's mouth is so noisy but what he says is not a Foreign policy.
Our country agreement with other nations remains the same unless it is reviewed by senate/congress.His words is his strength and not the pnp and afp. He is a brilliant no one can defeat him when it comes to psy war. But sad to say some of filipinos are crab mentality. They know that man is very kind that is why they getting the information of the weakness of that guy but they failed to see it.
No just like he said do not want to others what you do not want unto you. The western is the one who is started the fire so what do you think is the best way to defend the president. If the western is totally for a good intense then they will understand. You know in this world money cannot buy dignity so he is pursuing independent foreign policy for filipino people because he know some of filipinos use US or Uncle Sam for their own self interest. Many people cannot see that.
