Not really if you understand how investing in gambling sites works. Maybe you mean gambling alone is stupid. But man, we are talking of investment here where the house always wins and they are getting richer and richer.
Putting your money with them will guarantee profit, so that's what it means.

I assumed that "invest their money in gambling" meant to gamble because some people seem to consider gambling as a form of investment. Otherwise, I would have expected it to be worded as "invest in a casino" or "invest in a gambling site".

For me i can suggest that you can invest bitcoins in trading, i would not suggest gambling because for me gambling will be just for fun of your extra money and not a form of investment. To make it clearly defined when you engage in gambling it's actually a game of chance and theres no assurance of returns on investments with it. In trading you can invest wisely and posible ROI will guaranted to reward you in the end.

You can afford to invest in trading only if you are holding a good knowledge of it or else it will be same like gambling with your money, but I do agree that trading is a better way to grow your bitcoins in compare to gambling as gambling never promises profits and most of the times we will be loosing our money in it.
