I think much better to check this site https://coinmarketcap.com . Look for the top 10 or top 20 coins there. Look the graph for their performance, coins in circulation and above all the market capitalization. I think this would give you an idea.

I agree with this honestly i choose almost the top 20 in coinmarket cap some of them not giving me profit but i am still holding it and wait for the right time to sell it.. This coin makes me profit before are eth and monero and i think after this few month or weeks ethereum will rise again because the price is gradually decrease they will transfer back again to ethereum..

i think its because the price of bitcoin itself is not yet in stable price for now and its need to be stable first before the altcoins can gets up again like before. but for now, i think the altcoins is up but for little price, and we should waiting for a while to see bitcoin price is going down, or going up or even its stable for now.
