hello guys. again me Grin i need a little help.  Would it be a problem to use two different chipset graphics cards? Such as rx 480 and r9 290x?

nah - shouldn't be. I run a nVidia GTX along side a RX480, hah.

It's a bit of a pain to set up compared to keeping it "all in the family", but yes you can mix and match.

Also, seems to play more reliably if you don't mix generations, and don't mix venders.

Yeah - totally.

In my case it was just a matter of an impulse buy/upgrade - didn't foresee my rig running both cards in a mining capacity. That said, it worked out damn well - the 960 can just keep on truckin' whilst I can free up the RX480 if some gaming is in order, or just generally want a quieter (less god damn fan whirring) environment.

It's pretty damn practical, theory aside, heh.
