The best way to trade is following the trend. To some extend the op has answer himself. If you want to buy and hold for a short time? Now is not the best time as bitcoin is currently over priced. For long time investment I think you can invest now as after a pull back to 1100 dollar a New up trend will resume. But if you are a margin trader you can invest anytime.

I agree that you will profit if you are willing to wait, but consider that in 1st quartal of 2016 the bitcoin was around 450$, I already know people who bought and profited a lot till now. My point, you never know how much you'll need to wait. Following the trend will surely help you to choose the right time for an investment, but its open market so it's never sure
