Indeed it is easy for whales to manipulate the market. If they want to pull the price of Bitcoin they can do it easily. They have the fund and the number of Bitcoins to dump whenever they wanted to. Just for example, these whales wanted to shake the market of weak hands, and they saw some negative press. They will exaggerate it to the point it creates FUD and start dumping their stash of BTC to support their claim about people losing interest because of this FUD. Mostly people that have little faith in Bitcoin is shaken and sell their holdings. And series of sell off happen resulting to a massive dump. The only people who are happy are these whales who have their buy order to catch cheaper Bitcoins.
