Russia can be brought down economically. Happened twice in the last 30 years, once with the URSS and once with Russia in 1998.

With North Korea, you can't do this. They don't have a f** economy in the first place.

You are mistaken about Russia. The ongoing sanctions are having hardly any impact. It is true that the Russian economy has been hit hard by the low crude oil prices, but the economic growth has resumed after many months of contraction.

What about social affairs? Why raise taxes and energy prices and why cut pensions and salaries? Horse, but Russia is a big country and it's easier to cope with difficulties

The economy had 3 years of deep recession. Nearly all of their emergency funds are depleted. The only thing that really gives them profit right now is the defense sector.
They have increasing profits from arms trading several years in a row now.

Syria is not only in russias sphere of influence - but one of the biggest arms show since afghanistan and iraq.
And putin knows how to use it as PR for russias defense sector.
