I think small investments are perfect for learning since you can see how you will behave in a real scenario, I remember that I have seen some people complaining in other forums that when they used accounts with play money to trade they always won but when they tried with real money they lost, so it is better to try our tactics with real money.

Yes small investments are better for learning but still it is not much useless if a person cannot afford to invest high amount. Sometimes if the investors have luck then a small amount can also make him wealthy and he can earn a good profit but it not happen in all case.

Even a small investment can make you good money if you invest right before an altcoin pumps, but the problem with such an investment is that you will need to invest in a coin that is not very well known and as we know that has the risk of losing money too.

but i think it is not such an easy task to select the right altcoin whose price is expected to increase more. i think you need a proper knowledge about the altcoin so as co select the right coin in the right time.
