If you hate manual settings so much, then look away from posts related to it.
I had a success in reverting to a non-autotune firmware stored in the memory by using this method I posted two months ago.
This was done with R4. I have no autotune S9 to test it.

1) I've yet to read a single person type a single reason why they think they have a better understanding of the thermodynamics of their S9 better than Bitmain does (so I'll continue to ask until someone gives a sound reason or people accept that the manufacture of their computer components knows more about the thermodynamics of those computer components than some novice hobbyist does).
2) That whole "look away" thing goes both ways.
