Peace and Happiness are within! Do not look for them in things. You will not be able to buy peace and happiness when NEM rises, yet you can still be very peaceful and happy losing everything. But in your case its not possible cause you are hiding it from your wife!

Great words, but actually, yeah, wellness affects happiness quite well. For example on world happiness map you will see many poor countries with desperate people.
Of course, there is a borderline, buying third house/car won't affect you much.
