It was all because of the ETH rally. People selling their BTC to buy into ETH. The price will probably correct to the almost $3,000 mark here in a few days. This just tends to happen when a big coin gets boosted. People are going to panic and fomo will kick in.

It makes absolutely no sense.
Bitcoin is dropping against the usd and you can buy eth directly with btc without converting to fiat.

So how is this "eth rally" really affecting bitcoin?

Are you nervous? Don't be nervous just because the price went back $300. It's now trying to recover, just expect when there's no movement of price and it became stable for a couple of days or weeks next movement will be down. And this is good for those investors that wants to buy bitcoin as they will be given a chance to buy with smaller price.

Well , it went down to 2284 on bitfinex so that's more like 700$
