I haven't had an issue with any type of m2 adapter; they have been reliable for me so long as you power them.

ASUS PRIME H270-PLUS -or- MSI Z270-A PRO are both good mobos; you will need to do an Internet bios update with the H270; but it is the easiest bios update I've ever done.

Also you will have problems using ribbon risers with either. Use powered usb risers instead.

main consideration for 7+ gpu rigs is the PSU / PSUs used
