Some tokens appear in MEW straight away, some you have to add manually or wait. Token balances are created by contracts, and contracts can have different designs. Everyone will get their token balances before the token sale ends, tokens are issued automatically, so please be a bit patient.
If you want a detailed explanation about particular design of the contract we use, and why for some contracts you can see the balance straign away, and others you have to add manually, I'll need to talk to the solidity devs.
